WD Help!!

Looking for quick input as we are in route from iowa to Tennessee.

Loaded up like usual (with a little extra) and this time we have 4 bikes in the truck bed. We put the chains on 6 with 5 hanging since we are carrying extra. Felt super bouncy/ floaty. Stopped at rest area and upped a chain. So, 7th link, 6hanging. (photo) Felt way better driving.

Here's my question... is this too tight? From what I can find online, it says, 5links between bar and hook. Should the bars be parallel with tongue? Will this do damage turning?

We've never had an issue towing. Thanks!

Have you checked the tire pressure on camper wheels? My old chain WD system, I never went more than 4 and it was always parallel with the tongue. Also, if you move your cargo further back, more over the tandem axles, it should take load off the tongue and stiffen up the suspension for less bounce. I'm not claiming to be an expert! just experience.

The angle of the bars is not important. Try to get the truck close to level as it was before the trailer is connected. Within an inch or so in the rear. You don't want the truck to be too much tail low or nose high.

I have a different system-reese straight line- the ball tilt sets the weight distribution more than the chains.
Was it set up correct before this trip. If yes, then you need to redistribute, or eliminate weight.
Setup correct usually entails measuring level hitch height of TT, and setting ball within 1 to 1-1/2 in higher to compensate for sag. Then measuring fender height front and back unloaded.
When WD is set right front fender should be within an inch of where it was unloaded, and rears within 1-1/2 I believe.
