WDH question

If I am towing a shamrock 21ss, would a Reese 12000/1200 with sway control be over kill or should i look for a smaller 10,000/ 600-800 WDH?
Thanks!!

you will probably get mixed reviews on this question.

I have a 2306 and am using the 1,000 / 10,000 Equalizer and have no issues.

I would think the 1200 / 12,000 would be a little over kill but doubt it will hurt - on the bright side is if you ever decide to upgrade campers later you wouldnt have to upgrade the hitch.

I personally wouldnt go less then the 1,000 / 10,000 combo for even your 21ss Roo

Another idea is if you want the Manufacture's recommendation - contact reese and ask them as well just to make sure - they will give you the real skinny.
When I bought my Equalizer - I emailed support and they told me the 1,000 / 10,000 was fine for what I was trying to accomplish

Once it was setup after I got it home and loaded with what I had plan on taking almost every trip - had / have zero issues.

I thought I had an issue with the L Brackets cause they were wearing and bending back a little but found out the way they are wearing is normal so overall havent had any issues. Bought the Camper in March of 2011 and probably have put well over 6,000 miles on the setup.

I can email you a copy of my invoice if you need something to go to someone else for a price match - I paid $648.55 out the door but I added the sway jackets ($16.99) and a longer drop Bar ($59.99), the Socket ($45.00), the Lube ($8.99), the Ball ($19.00), Spare Pin Pack ($9.00) and Hitch Assembly ($449)

No, no..invoice not necessary. Just curious as to what people are paying.
I found the Reese on Craigslist. couple years old, good condition. He was asking $250... He said lowest he'd go is $175. only problem is he's 3 hrs away. That would be a 6hr commute. Nice price though. Just weighing options as the season is fast approaching.

My opinion would be to buy new - if anything was to fail you would be covered under the manufacturer's warranty.
I believe in buying some used stuff but when it comes to Hitches and things that are important to me I buy new even if it costs a little more - sometimes saving a little now can cost you alot more later.

the Invoice was in a PDF - No worries was just asking that if you wanted a copy I would be willing to forward it to you as a barganing chip if you decide to go with an equalizer instead.

BTW if you are buying the Roo new - make sure you get the 2nd year warranty - you'll be glad ya did for the piece of mind even if you dont use it. March will be 1 year since I bought my trailer and I have yet to bring it in for any service cause I have fixed the few small issue's I have had.

I also have a Prodigy Brake Controller - when I bought it - it was on sale at Camping World for like $100 and the cable that made it plug and play into my truck was like $20 - when I was a member of the Camping Club which I think it is called the Good Sams Club Membership now.

I think they now have the Prodigy P2 - shop around and you can get a good price.

What are you using to tow the roo with if I can ask?
