Sounds like a wonderful trip. Where did you start from? Those were some long days on the road.

Yellowstone is most definitely on our travel bucketlist. Hopefully sooner then later with our kiddos still being young and wanting to go out with us. Awesome trip though! Thanks for sharing!

Did Yellowstone last year over the 4th of July enjoyed the park and West
Yellowstone, takes about 5-6 hours from here.
Road work on HWY 20 was the only issue.

That trip was just about a week after we got back from a 3400 mile trip Mt. Rushmore to the Grand Canyon and ton of other places between.
Eisenhower tunnel, Mile High City, what a ride.
Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge, Alamo, NV Was a nice overnight stop.

Give or take a stop of two to let the dogs out to do their thing; it's 2.5 hours from my door to the W. Yellowstone entrance.
Last week only took me 4.5 to make it to a campground 14 miles east of Yellowstone's east exit.

We just got home from a 6340 mile 5 week vacation to Glacier, Yellowstone, Colorado. It was hotter in Montana when we were there, than it was at home.(Baton Rouge, La.) The wife just suggested we hook up and head back north! Got to get the kitchen slide repaired, then who knows?

West Yellowstone, Can't get enough
FYI,
Part of our 2013 RV trip included Yellowstone Park and;
To the Seniors out there that are thinking of a visit to to the park or any national park, get a senior pass from a government agency if you don't already have one, cost us $10. We got ours from the Forestry Service Office here in east Texas. This pass allowed us free entry to the park, as we spent 2 weeks coming and going, so not to miss a thing. It is well worth the effort to get this pass, we have used it all over the US at many national parks and attractions, Camping cost extra and depends on location, after all this is what we paid taxes for all these many years.
This was our 2nd visit and the best. We are retired and have the time to enjoy. Yellowstone is must on your Bucket List.
Reading these comments, have got me thinking, maybe one more time!
We stayed @ the Pony Express RV park, nothing to brag about, but is in the heart of West Yellowstone, we could walk everywhere and it close to the west entrance of the park. OK enough, enjoy your RV' ing,

Using conservative Google maps shows...
via US-20 E 2 h 26 min
153 miles
2 h 20 min without traffic · Show traffic
I drove up on labor day, and hardly any traffic anywhere. Ran the speed limits the entire way; plenty of ISP cars/trucks along the way. NO line at all at west entrance, hardly any traffic in the park, and no selfie nut jobs stopping traffic to take a selfie with a Bison. It was a great drive.
But the longest it ever took to get to the west entrance has been 2:45.

When we were there traffic was tied up because of a three car trash and smash because someone stopped on the road to take a picture of a bear in a stream or creek.
Took almost that long to go from the west gate to Old Faithful, what a mess.
lots of places to park and a 100,000 signs that say DO NOTSTOP ON THE ROAD.

Hey Ford , we found that even the bus tour parking spots were filled with cars let alone the RV parking spots, we had to circle around three or four times before getting a spot to park and get out to see anything.

Yea....coming through from Red Lodge, via Cody in July, took me 45 minutes to get through Hayden Valley. Kept my camera handy in case of getting a great photo of a tourist being gored by a Bison; but no luck

Should have seen it before they made the road wider!
And if that grade is bad (which it is not); don't ever try Blackbear Hwy into Red Lodge. You won't have a dash left....

I'd like a video of that.
Winning 10k from AFV on someone's Darwin moment, priceless....

The pics are amazing. Thanks for sharing those and details of your trip. Planning a 3 week road trip next year from Alabama to Rushmore and on to YS for a week. Good info on the KOA. Did you look at any C.G. options in YS? Like fishing bridge etc.? Thx
