Ok.. rained all day for the second day, and calling for more tomorrow..so I decided to leave in the morning, a day early..and we are heading to Custer,SD..will be there a couple days..and hopefully better weather..
In the pic of the mountain, this is what you see right from our site..and the snow covered it today..it has been very cold and dreary all day.. time to move on.. but no complaints.. we had a great time, and this campground is amazing.. ( spent an hour in the hot tub today)

Really enjoying the posts and pics from your trip. That area is on our bucket list but just not possible at this stage of life. It's just too hard to get that much time off work and it's a long way away from Charlotte NC to make it a short trip.
Someday...

Since the weather normally runs west to east, you may not really be getting out of it. You may just be following it (or it following you).

You think that was nerve racking, you should try heading to the east gate when the road is being rebuilt and had been taken down to the dirt. To make things even more interesting it had just snowed so the dirt was now slippery mud. This pic was taken in 2004. After that drive the front of my fifth wheel looked like we had driven through a mud bog.

You were right.. rained this morning while we were breaking down in Spearfish, SD.. but was a short day of a couple hours to Custer.. and we found a wonderful campground... "Custer Mountain Campground".. the people here are absolutely wonderful.. not a huge campground, but the spaces are very nice giving you some room..has water/elect/sewer/cable.. very nice laundry room..and bath house.. ( i just got out of a nice hot shower).. we ( and by that I mean my friend who was driving).. were having issues backing into the spot.. getting level.. etc.. the Owner came right over with his gator..and hooked up to the TT and put it right where it needed to be.. like I said.. these people are awesome.. would reccomend and then some!!!!

Just got back from a 4week trek to that area, hit Theodore Roosevelt NP, Glacier NP, Yellowstone, Mt. Rushmore and a lot of other stops on the way. opted not to go to the Grand Tetons due to my TV, I was at the limit and didn't want to chance it through any more mountains. Caught a heck of a headwind through North Dakota and some crazy wind through South Dakota and Iowa. Loved the parks and scenery. I stayed at the Rocky Mountain campground in Gardiner and was visited by elk every evening. Now that I'm back home in Michigan it's time to test out the great warranty program my sealer told me about.
