well the LP alarm works! eek!

So my 9 year unbeknownst to us bumped into the knob for one of the stove top burners while reaching up to turn down the speakers. We were all sitting outside and a few hours later we started noticing an odd smell coming from the camper. We had doors and windows open anyhow and I thought it was the Damn black tank which I'm still trying to get the hang of keeping it odorless! A few minutes later alarms started going off like crazy. We couldn't figure out if it was smoke alarms, CO, wtf?! I noticed a blinking red light on the panel below the fridge so I crouched down and saw it was the LP alarm!

My husband turned to the stove and grabbed the starter knob by accident and shot a giant flame out from under the glass top and singed his arm hair!!

Omg it was so scary! Well good to know that works but Omg!!

Isn't it supposed to sound an alarm, not just light a light?

Oh yes it does! A high pitched alarm, we didn't know what the alarm was since there was no smoke. When I saw the tiny flashing red light next to "LP" was how we figured it out!

So glad everyone is safe! That was a close one.

Now that you know what is sounds like, if you hear it again do not go inside and get everyone out quickly. Turn off the propane at the tanks and try to let it air out before entering.

Sorry, I missed the statement about the alarms. I'm wondering why it took several hours, though. That seems pretty slow. Must have been a very small "leak."

I think because the glass cover was down plus I think when hour bumped into the knob it only turned slightly. It was probably about 2 hours until the alarm started blasting. I just cringe when I think how tragic it could have ended. Thank god we were sitting right outside and had the door and windows open, no fire going yet and no one smokes!!
