What can a Roo do? Lots apparently...

Haven't posted here in a while, but I just had to share a few pics of our last vacation. We took a three week road trip from Vancouver, B.C., up through Prince George, Smithers, Dease Lake and on to Whitehorse. Then, up to Dawson City, up the Dempster Highway, overnighted north of the Arctic Circle, pushed to the Northwest Territories border through an arctic blizzard (labor day weekend), back to Dawson City, Whitehorse, through to Teslin (where I found one of the trailer tires was going to blow out on us had we not stopped for the night), back to Whitehorse for 5 new tires, back down through North Eastern B.C., into Alberta (big troubles there, as in the draw bars broke (I blame the condition of Highway 43)), then back home through Jasper and Kamloops. All in all, the Roo did amazing, even though we nearly beat it to death, it kept us warm and dry and comfortable through it all. Now I have a winter of planning all new modifications for our next adventure!

An epic trip. Good to know the hybrid was up to it! Nice personalization of the bumper sticker. The one I like says something like "I drove the Alaska Highway. Yes damn it, both ways!".

For our southern American friends, every season we see all forms of motorcycles, travel trailers and motorhomes heading to the Alaska Highway. Come prepared, keep to reasonable speeds, and carefully monitor the condition of your rig and you will be fine. Still on my wish list as a trip. Agree that some of our Alberta highways need work though; hopefully the oil industry gets going again and we can get them fixed up.

Can you elaborate on what broke? Looks pretty serious.

The draw bar or A that goes from the hitch through to the frame. Thankfully we all had to pee when we did, one more bump and the trailer would have been scattered all over the highway.
I got in touch with an RV dealer in Whitecourt, he asked me if I had a Shamrock. I told him it was a Roo (same thing), and he told me that he sees this happen quite often on these units. Damn that highway.
Truth be told, that front cross member cracked in 3 different spots 6 years ago. The break was just ahead of the repair made than.
