What do you use on your bunk ends to make it more comfy?

We bought our 23IKSS in March and have been on two trips so far. Before we took it on the road, we spent a night in the driveway and realized the mattress that comes with the Roo is very uncomfortable. We bought a queen 3" gel memory foam mattress topper and cut about 4" off the bottom to make it fit. It is very comfortable now, however, we couldn't seem to fold the mattress with the foam on it, so we have to fold it up (it's very heavy) and move it on to the dinette for travel. The gel memory foam has ripped in a couple of places from moving it and I'm afraid after a few more trips, it will be in shreds. Does anyone have a better way to make the bed more comfy, yet not have to remove it every time you fold the bunk ends up?

We're doing what you did. Mattress with 2 inch gel topper. We fold the mattress/topper up, pull it over the dinette back and onto the folded down dinette and unfold it again. Pain the butt, but ....

We may have to buy a 2" to see if it makes it easier to fold up. The 3" is a beast! But it sure is comfy!

We bought 2 inch memory foam for ours. And we also fold it up and store in the dinette. That made it way more comfortable than the mattress we had in our house. Which led to a Tempurpedic purchase for the house.

We put a cheap 2" topper on one of ours to test out our first trip. Made it much more comfortable, but still too thick to fold the bunk up. We have to roll the topper up and store on dinette as well. Not going to be fun when we decide to get toppers for the other bunks.

2 inch memory foam. I store it in an industrial trash bag.

always store the foam topper separate on the dinette. don't even try to fold it up with the mattress.

What about the heated mattresses? Would it work well to put the foam under the mattress so you can enjoy the heat during winter camping? Has anyone tried that? We are considering doing something more comfortable.

Well, it appears we are already doing what everyone else is. I was hoping someone had come up with a solution that would allow folding up with the bed. I like the idea of putting the topper in an industrial trash bag as that may help keep it from ripping. So far, we only have one topper since we've only used one bed, but a trip with family is coming up so we will need to buy a second one for the other bed. We will probably go with the 2". Hopefully, it won't be as heavy and bulky. Thanks for all the quick responses!

Q: What do you use on your bunk ends to make it more comfy?

A: Captain Morgan's private stock rum.
