What electric tongue jack to buy?

What do you recommend and why? What would you not own? I searched this site and could only find a few posts about failures. TIA

I bought a factory refurbished UltraFab electric jack in 2005 for $100 and it remains in use to this day. The lights on it no longer work (broken switch) and it probably needs to be disassembled, cleaned, and re-greased but those are currently on the deferred maintenance list.

I installed a Barker on my 233s. Which ever brand you install, make sure it’s not too tall and there is clearance when the front bunk is lowered. Mine only has about a quarter inch clearance.

We replaced our hand crank tongue jack with the Barker. And have had it trouble free since 2012. Plus it is "MADE IN USA".

The main reason I am thinking about one is hooking it up. Cranking it up and down to connect the equalizer hitch is a three step task. Can they handle this?

For sure! That’s why I installed it!

Most only come with 90 day warranty. Although I am not a fan of Harbor freight electronics, I bought one there last year for around $100, for extra $12, got a 3 year warranty

Awesome jack at a good price. I would easily buy another one:

I bought the Husky 87641. Use it on our 23SS, with a remote. Even the wife likes it. Has no trouble raising the trailer and truck to install and remove equalizer sway bars.

I love it!

What my17ram said.... Not sure if they are all different, but the top of the head of my tongue jack comes dangerously close to the bottom of the bed door when it's open...

Not sure if they all have different heights but I would want to take a measurement between the top of the trailer tongue and the bottom of the bed to make sure whatever you purchase is not too tall..

I bought this one for my Christmas present to me...

Husky SuperBrute 82084 4000# Jack

I got it for something like $129... seller had it on sale... saw it and jumped on it.

It has a ball screw design rather than just a simple acme thread... we'll see how it holds up... should be good if they used quality components in building it.

Haven't installed it yet, so no review to give on it.

Another vote for Husky 4500. Bought this when the Lippert that came with the trailer decided it didn't want to work any more. Have been happy with the Husky. One advantage is you can't over or under run it. It automatically shuts off when when it hits its limits.

just posted this same question in another area of forum . been a toss up between the husky 4500 or the big dog . leaning toward the husky . can these be turned to allow for tail gate to open ?

You would have to redo the holes in your trailer. But that's with any jack. If you are talking about just turning the head itself, that's a good question. I will look.

No matter what brand you get, make sure to get a jack with a high lift rating. Don't get one that is just barely strong enough to lift the trailer.

Looking at the husky it appear that you would have to drill new holes to accommodate a sideways mount or mounting backwards will look into that i can move my propane tanks back about 2 ". the big dog it seems has more mounting options . i'm leaning toward the husky 4500 2 yr warranty as opposed to the big dog with 5 yr warranty . not sure why yet i think it's the ball bearing screw option that looks like it would be better

I need to replace the LCI one that is on our unit. I am looking at this one. This is the lowest price that I have found on this one.

not a bad price will have to see if they include shipping . also it says only 1 yr warranty when i've been reading 2 yr . also this is remote and i hear that as a constant parasitic drain of the batteries unless you install a cut off switch . same price as amazon when you include shipping . actully amazon would be a few dollars more but 2 yr warranty . will look into it further. well looks like the one with the remote is only 1 yr . will check there price on the one with out remote
