What is this tool?
Just got our first camper and no idea what this tool is for and can't find anything about it in the owners manual. Any ideas? Thanks.

It looks like the tool needed to attach your torsion bars to the weight distribution system.

Yep, use that on my equalizer hitch to put the bars on.

Ditto to the others--it's the tool for helping put the Equalizer bars on and take them off. Don't lose it! You can order a replacement but when you need it and don't have it, you'll be regretting!

Frig on gas or 12v
I had an older unit that had a 3 way fridge. I only used 12 v when was on the road and battery was chargeing from the car. When I stopped for a time tranfered over to a.c. or gas if not pluged in.

That's for the Equalizer system but I never use it. If I lift up my truck high enough with the tongue jack, the bars will be high enough to slide over the attachment so I can insert the pins.

robbdrell has a good point. The best way to put on the equalizer bars and to take them off is with the trailer lifting the truck to the highest possible point with the nose jack. This takes all of the tension off of the WDH. Many have reported serious injuries when trying to use this tool to release the tension bars while the truck and trailer are in a level position. Hopefully you also have wire safety loops to run the tension bars through to catch them if they should release too fast and fly out while unhooking them. Your truck and trailer should also be in straight alignment, even if you have to pull out to a staging area before installing/removing the tension bars. This reduces the need to use this tool as well.

I painted my SECOND spring bar tool bright fluorescent orange so it doesn't get left on the truck bumper and end up in the ditch somewhere with the first one.

Used ours a couple of times when we couldn't get quite enough lift to take all of the tension off - usually just one of the bars.
Caution should be used no matter how short the distance - that puppy can pack a punch.

Jacking the hitch up, and parking "in-line", I never need this tool. I will be in trouble if I need to swing the bars in or out, mine won't budge for me.

Jacking the hitch up is a huge help, but I've found that (particularly for off-level locations) it isn't always enough and the stress can make me a little nervous. The tool is invaluable for not having to max out the physical strain; it's designed to give the right leverage. I also keep a crowbar as additional backup.
