I'm assuming you're asking about an onboard.

It seems to help greatly with heat and gas looming under the trailer. Also it keeps the hot exhaust away from the air intake.

As far as noise goes... Not really... If I put on all 3 pipe stacks ours actually makes a harmonic noise inside the TH, if I just use 2 pipes there is no additional whining noise.

I have the Champion 3100 Inverted. Works like a champ and cost 1/3 what I would need for a Honda or Yamaha. I've only had it for 8 months, but has been great. Its only slightly louder than the Hondas, but its not bad.

I would be very careful with exhaust fumes coming into the roof vents if they are left open.
I installed a wind vane type of vent on top of my unit and if the wind passes over the vent and the roof vents are down wind, it will run you out of the unit!! I chased that smell for many hours before I figured it out. I'm sure exhaust would do the same. Be careful!

You are so right. I hadn't thought of that, but it could even be deadly with CO at night.
In fact, building codes mandate that exhausts above rooflines be a certain height above the ridgeline so that just that thing doesn't happen to houses.
