Sounds like a great option. Wish j had known about them 6 years ago when I paid $900 for my Honda.

Costco has it on their website for $799, but have seen it on sale for $599 when their coupon books come out.

You are mistaken.
You're thinking about the Champion 3500, NOT the 3100.
As the others have pointed out, the 3100 is an inverter generator, not a "Work Site" generator.
Please check your info first.

Had a chance today to unbox and fire up our new Champion 3100 inverter. First pull and it was running. Running it through the initial break in period and so far so good. Looking forward to making a few off the grid trips this fall.

like i said before we have a Duromax Elite 4500 with electric start. runs great - even after i put it with my wife's assistance into the back of my truck... behind the 5th wheel hitch and turned to go for a weekend trip last Wednesday.
she heard the crunching long before i did.
well now i have a generator with very distinguishing markings (crushed frame and side plate) in the event someone steals it...
the old guy (88) who is at the park beside us came out and asked what happened and then stated he always put them in the front of the truck bed - apparently more room for turning.
i would have asked him to help with loading it into the back seat of the super crew but he looked like he would have a difficult time in lifting a fork and knife at the same time.
after the big bang we got set up and after checking for leaks finding none - it was started without issue and ran the weekend just fine. tough enough for a 9000 lb trailer to pivot on and still power up.

Really researched this. Ended up with 2 Honda EU2000's. The Yamaha was a close second. Went with 2K's for the usually reason.... Weight.
There are some other brands that I checked into. The reviews were mixed. So I sided with the safe bet this time.
How do you carry your generators? I don't have a pickup bed, so that is out. The dealer put a shelf above the propane tank. It seems too flimsy to hold the weight. So many people have said bad things about hooking anything to the back. I would have to get it custom made anyway because the 183 has a garage. I thought about putting it in the garage. Not sure about that...
OK, short story long...
What do you think??

Tractors Supply still has the Champion 3500/4000 for $299. I have two and they both crank on the first pull every time. I think they are 95 lbs but with wheels up it to 100 lbs.
I'm only 70 years old so I can still move it when needed.

since when does the Roo/Shamrock 183 come with a garage?
only a handful of hybrids ever came with a garage. Starcraft was one company that did make one floorplan with one.

We tow with an Envoy. We were just out for 20 days, moving camp every 1 or 2 days. Moving that much helps you figure out different ways to store things because you know you are going to be setting it all up again in a few hours.
We have the Yamaha 2400i. It's great, but too heavy to easily heft in and out of the TV and a pain to lock up each night. We ended up leaving it in the back of the TV and running it from there with the exhaust facing outward.
We only run it maybe an hour every other day and with the rear hatch up there was plenty of air flow and very little exhaust smell.
It was convenient to not have to lug it out of the TV until we got home.

What kind of generator do you use?
Gorge
We also have the same Honda. We have a ford Excursion and always carry it in the back. We close the vent cap and get almost no fumes. Of course I take it out when we get to our destination. I think Honda does a good job with recognizing that need and put that gas vent close valve for that reason. Give it a try. It has worked very well for me. Just remember to open it if you want it to start. I forget half the time.

This Is My 2nd Trip Out With My Honda 3000 dry camping. Ran about 3 hours today it is so quiet. It is heavy but I can get it in and out of the truck ok by myself. My lord does it just sip gas! Kids watched a couple of short shows and charged everything up. Very happy with the performance.

Went with the
Champion Camo 4375W Generator, got it for $274.20.
Can't beat that. It will mostly be used in the fall to recharge battery from the heater running at night. Most of the summer we have electric for AC.

I just bought a Champion 3500w/4000w open frame generator, that many recommend because it cost less than $300.
I bought this for home usage, since I already own a Honda 2000w inverter generator.
I can now definitely state that I would NEVER subject anyone in a campground, to the Champion's noise level, compared to the Honda.
The Champion is great for camping at auto races, festivals, deserts and other non-developed areas.
But NOT for a campground where you have neighbors.

Just purchased two Honda gens for on or about 4K watts.....
Now to figure out how to secure them so they don't grow legs and get lost.
