Where do you keep your generator?

Hi all,

First season with our Shamrock 23IKSS.. my wife will be taking the rig to a music festival soon, and will be dry camping for a few nights. We do have a 3500w inverter generator she'll be able to use for the A/C if needed, and to charge up during the day...

Where do you all keep your generator when running? Do I need to be concerned about the bunk ends and exhaust? any tips on generator placement for our first time using one? I'm assuming as far away from the rig as we can get it, and maybe down wind if possible.. lol.

Thanks! Any tips/suggestions appreciated.

You just answered your own question. I have a cable lock that I run thru the handle on the gen and then thru a spoke on my wheel. Keep that sucker from walking away.

When we started using the generator, I purchased a pair of carbon monoxide detectors. I put one into the kid's room and one into my room. The main living area already had a combo.

A different setup than your Roo, but I would definitely want CO detectors wherever you'll have people sleeping.

Good suggestion on the C02 detectors in the bunks... there's the LP/CO2 in the wall near the bathroom/back bunk, but that's all..

Just checked a couple of generators but the results were pretty similar. It appears that a 3500 W inverter generator is going to weigh somewhere in the vicinity of 140# (dry). I'd figure on keeping that bad boy somewhere close by. Even with wheels- it is a problem to get in and out of vehicles.

Wow, what generator are you looking at? Our Champion is under 100# oiled and gassed. Not much under, but under none the less.

My Harbor Freight Predator Inverter 3500w is only 100lb dry... still heavy, and would need 2 people to more easily load and unload it, but had good handles on it...

CO detector.

CO = Carbon Monoxide

CO2 = Carbon Dioxide

What 3500w inverter generator weighs 140lbs?
Even the Champion 3500w dual fuel inverter generator only weighs 95.7lbs

Honda EU3000is weighs 153 lbs. with a full tank. And worth every pound!

Mine stays on the tongue with the exhaust facing the side away from the door.

He said 3500w inverter generator.
I know the Honda 3000w inverter generator is heavy but it's not 3500w.

For security, see if the LowPro LockDown is an option for your brand generator. This is one of the most secure ways I've ever seen to secure a generator.

I had a pair of them for my two Honda 2000 generators.

I loved it.

Where????

Champion 4000/3500. Chained in bed ot Ford truck. Exhaust aimed toward middle of bed, tailgate up. Most of the noise, what there is, is directed up. Can barely hear it. We only use it when in a spot where no hook ups. Everyone is on generators. Well, everyone who has one.

👍😎
