Why so much wasted space?

We just brought a shamrock 21dk . Since I've had it home and have had a chance to really look over it I am shocked at how much wasted space there is. There are fake walls everywhere that if extended would give so much more space . Why? Is it because they dont want you to go over the CCC?
I am no engineer , just a middle aged women and I have already added enough mods to give myself tons more storage room.
The back seat of the dinette 3/4 empty. Why? Very odd.
IF they made all that space available it would be a wonderful selling point. Hmmmm

Same with my Rockwood 2306... I've removed some walls... I'll take looking at the piping to add a few extra "things".

apparently they don't have a problem selling it the way it is. You bought it. Either way, their is lots of joy in personalizing it and making it yours.

I found the same in my TT. Basically if there's a hose, wire, duct or anything of that ilk then they close the space off. But they also make it easily accessible. I usually only find 1 or 2 screws blocking it off in those cases. The spots they really don't want you to access are near impassible.

I believe its just the quickest, easiest way to hide unfinished areas or systems parts like hoses, electrical, plumbing etc. Sometimes just moving an existing dummy partition one way or the other can give you much needed space.

The more trailers and floor plans you look at prior to buying, all go a long ways to helping you find "the one" for you.

I too have a 2306 and see all sorts of space that I would like to use. Have already pulled out the fake divider in the lower bathroom cabinet, the one below the hanging clothes closet by the bunks, and under the oven. I see a bunch of space above the water heater area and want to put a shelf in there to use that space.

KDHfan, can you tell me what you have done or are thinking of? Pics would be great if you have any. Thanks a bunch.

Why so much wasted space?

Yes... I pulled the panel under the lower bunk (location of the water system w/ Murphy bed option) that gives you access to the water heater/pump. I needed just a couple inches to be able to store our outdoor rug and camp chairs in that compartment so it was one of the first things I did. I added two refrigerator double spring bars to protect the pipes... But I really don't think they're needed.
We pulled all the other panels you mentioned except for (I think) the one I under the pantry... I pulled it but it didn't provide any extra space so I put it back. But I'd have to check.
I am also considering cutting an access panel in the front two outdoor compartments and have a small pass through (towing with the Murphy Bed down). Haven't decided yet.

In our 2007 TrailCruiser We added a door where tv went so tv could swivel. We added dividers and and a cabinet front for storage. In bunk area we added a tv/dvd player that flipped down. Outdoor speakers and a switch to turn light on when we opened the door Click image for larger version
