Wiggly Kitchen Table
Just received my 2013 23SS and noticed the folding dinette table is very wobbly. At first I thought it was the top but looking underneath I think its the metal stand. The design looks stable but I don't think they used rigid enough metal in the construction so now the top moves a lot. Anyone else have the same? I'm thinking of reinforcing the structure with rigid brackets etc - anyone modify their table/ suggestions?

Interior Table
The interior table on our 2013 Roo is close to worthless. When it is up it is real unsteady. The small clip that keeps it locked up doesn't hold, and if pressure is put on the table it will fold up and collapse. We are looking at replacing it with a card table, since it is very unlikely we will need to turn the table into a bed.
Any suggestions on a different clip or way to secure it.

I just notice our 2013 23SS table is very wobbly today. Figure when I get a chance will pull the table out and see how to fix it.

Can't tell from the online pix at Forest River if the table legs are the same as ours were. They collapsed sideways and down to make the dinette bed and were made of a black square tubular steel. We replaced it as shown. Much more solid!

Can you do that? Awesome. I just tried an experiment with having the family eat at the table. This includes my 5 year old boy. No way this will work! Drinks and food everywhere. As soon as there is any weight on the table it moves a lot. I don't mean a little - it knocks stuff over. This problem actually renders the use of the dinette unusable. I'm feeling pretty frustrated and upset - I just spent a lot of money and now can't use the dinette because the table is crap ... So do I rebuild the "brand new" table or design my own table - nothing like paying more money to make up for poor quality that you just spent a ton of money on! How does something like that get past FR? No way they didn't know its garbage.

Hey Timarti
Yes you described it right on. Looks like your new one is awesome. Buy or build?

I like the idea timarti just post. A friend mine has a water jet to cut wood. I can completely design it and he will cut it out.
Still going to contact Roger at Forest River. Maybe we all should complain so they see its more then just one person.

We should complain. Just saw the same complaint on the forum going back a year. Who gives a family unit a table like that...

DH built it. He has a shop full of woodworking tools. We Had quite a few wide pine boards left over from siding the sticks and bricks with board and batten. Only thing is, the top is bolted onto the new base using the same brackets from the old table, so to make a bed would have to be unbolted and removed. We don't need the extra bed, but if we did, we could just bolt the old base back on temporarily if we had more than the two of us travelling. Not likely, the trailer is our little escape!

Our Shamrock 25RS has the same table leg design and it is terrible! It is very unstable. We have to be very careful with drinks on the table. I am glad we don't have small children to contend with. In fact my original table was crooked and the dealer replaced it with another table from a different unit. If anyone gets a solution fro this from FR please share.

We tried to figure out a way to stabilize the original legs, but could not come up with anything that worked. There are so many hinged places to collapse it that it is darn near impossible to fix!

FYI
I merged the two "Wiggly Table" threads as they began at the same time, are running concurrently and address the same issues.

This is the original table base. I posted them last summer to see if anyone had a fix! There are two hinged areas on each leg. There is a catch on the left leg that when released, the whole thing folds sideways and down to the left. Reminds me of a moose which always seems to me like its legs fold the opposite of how they ought, lol. Anyway, we gave up and constructed the nice wooden base, which looks better anyway.

And I thought Rube Goldberg was dead. Guess not, he is still working on table legs. I think the best solution is the wooden legs with maybe an easy method of removal to make the bed if needed like sliding the legs into long sockets that are screwed & glued to the top and pinned?

Our Wildwood had a very wobbly table also. It is a dual pedestal table with the legs going into cheap, flimsy pole holders that are actually cut in to the floor so that they are flush. There are 2 other pole holders are on the bottom of the table.
What I did was get 2 shower curtain rods that are adjustable. Then I used closet pole holders and screwed them to the bottom of the table and the floor, putting the one on the floor as close to the wheel house as possible. We then turn the shower rods until they are snug and stabilize the table. Very solid.
