Winegard Antenna

Hello Campers,

I have what will seem like a silly question, but because I'm new to RVing it's one of those things that I haven't figured out yet. I have a "new-to-me" 2009 21SS Roo. It has a Winegard antenna on top. I've looked at it closely but unfortunately can't find a model number on the antenna. Looking on the Internet for something similar, it appears to be a Wingman, but I'm not 100 % certain. What exactly does this device do for me?

It's for the TV.

The Wingman is an add-on to your Sensar antenna that came with your camper. It will help increase UHF performance up to 100% on DTV channels.
I bought a Wingman for my Roo 23ws, and I do get a better reception and a few channels more.

You need to locate a switch plate in the wall near the TV. It will contain a small black button which operates power to the Winnegard ant. and a indicating light. This enables the rotating ant. power supply and booster. Without it it frees the circuit for cable use from the CG pedestal.

Thank you. I do see the the switch panel with the button and light. Am I right in assuming that even though the antenna is extended, it is useless unless the button is depressed and the light is on?

Yep.

The antenna amplifies the signal it receives, and so you have to turn on the amp.

Yes the button must be pressed and light on for the ant to work. You also need to go to setup and channel scan every time you use it in a new location that is 10-20 miles from the last one, As that is a directional antenna, you can find several good smartphone apps that will show the direction and distance to broadcast antennas from your location.
