We are there the same week!
On your golf cart question, you could do it. I've seen it done a number of times.
Just try to seat the kids on the seats between adults. Disney has their own "enforcement" crew (security) and they are know to remind folks to not ride through the property with kids on your lap.
Make sure to bring the kids to the campfire sing-along near the Meadows Trading Post where they also host the campfire and smores. Little kids love it and there are some character appearances - usually Chip and Dale.

Wow that is awesome we are also going the memorial week with our 4 kids. My inlaws are meeting us in their motorhome. Looks like I need to figure out how to get our bikes attached to the camper

There is a forum member called joemazz. He lives in Orlando area and stays at wilderness often if I remember correctly. See if you can get some pointers from him.

Thanks for all the posts and recommendations. My wife and I are excited about this trip.

When I was growing up in a little town, on my ride to school everyday I passed this house that had a little Class C. This was the 1980's it was little more than a van with a bunk. I always noticed the Fort Wilderness tire cover and all the bumper stickers of places that RV had been. In an age before the Internet, it was fun to imagine all the adventures I could have if I owned a similar vehicle. I vowed I would get one of those things and do that. Well fast forward 35 years and I am finally making it to the Fort. Bucket list item about to be checked off.

I have all my bass and crappie fishing gear. I am ready for the fishing fun.

We are going down in October. It's not our first time to the Fort as me and the DW both used to work at WDW (EPCOT) and we camp at Fort Wilderness about every other year. This is however our first time with full hook up. Check back in with us after your trip and let us know how things went.
I know it was already mentioned, but the Hoop De Doo Review is well worth the $!! It's a must see. We've been to it 3 or 4 times now. As for the fishing you can get guided fishing excursions at a cost or fish for free off shore. They also rent out cane pole fishing rods for the "HuckFinn" feel, lol. All the lakes are stocked but it's catch and release only.

Freddiemac looks like a great time. How are the sites? Do you have plenty of room for slideout? We are looking forward to our May trip down there.

The 100 loop that we are in is tight. The campsites are on top of each other, but we have snowbirds all around us so it's peaceful and hardly see anyone else. We are close to the settlement which is really nice. If my rig where a bit bigger, I would look to the premier sites with full concrete. What we have is the full and it is still very nice. I will post a pic for you of our site in relation to others around us.

I had a great time at FW, short of a little site reservation snafu that got us into a better site. I'd love to go back except the kids are grown and the wife isn't interested. A single, 42 year old guy would probably look creepy hanging around.

Looks like you're having a good time!
