3 Trailers in 2 Years, I hope we are done!

Nice. I think we followed the same road there for a while. We had a TT, then a 5th wheel than a two bathroom 5th wheel within three years. Ya never know exactly what ya need until you're out there.

I have always had two 30 lbs. bottle of propane, when I ran out I traded it in. This is the first one that I have ever refilled the bottles, my wife put her foot down to say it nicely.

Been there, done that and got the T-Shirt. Started camping in 1978 withe a tent and a 1972 Toyota Corolla. Next a 1978 Ford van with a bed and a 1000w gen and tarps, then Big Time---1983 Dodge 16 passenger van, bed and same gen, window fan, tv and porta pot. Years later-- needed something to pull car trailer to track. 1978 Winnebago 28' with cab over bed, rear kitchen and a real bathroom. Worked OK, bur the 440 Dodge lacked something in the mountains and in the brake department. Broke into the Diesel field with a front enginr diesel (can you say GM car?) Still no mountain guts and brakes sucked! Went to an RV show in Greensboro and saw a 1992 Coachman Royal 36/ rear engine diesel with 22.5 tires, air brakes, diesel gen and all my wants on the "used" picture board. Put down a deposit, went to view next week, bought it. Had 109K miles, good Allison trans and all the parts and pieces worked. Well cruise control worked one time on the trip home and never again. Over the years I put a lot of miles towing a 13K car trailer all over the US. Had problems? Yes but not not unusual. Sold race cars, car trailer and down sized to a 24' travel trailer. Works for us, the dog, and cat. No regrets.

9 RV's in 40 years here. Started with a popup when our first child was a toddler in 1975 or '76. Traded that in for a travel trailer that proved to be too heavy for our vehicle. Only use it once or twice before we sold it and bought an Allegro motor home. Loved it but as the kids got older, we didn't get to use it very often as they were involved in sports and other activities year round. Moved back down to a popup and finally quit camping as we just didn't have time any more. After the fledglings left the nest, we got back into camping with a small 5th wheel, 2 more motor homes and then back down to a popup. Kept that for 4-5 years, but as we got older, it became more of a chore to put up and take down and we wanted something that we could use during the colder months. We like to start early camping in late February or March and wanted something easier to heat and set up/take down in cool and wet weather. Just traded the popup for a new 2016 R-pod 179. Each time we traded, we would say this is the last one, but you know, it is just like trading cars. Every few years you get the itch and have to scratch.

8 in 12 years here. Growing family as well, but not always the reason we swapped. Travel trailer, pop up, fifth wheel, another travel trailer, class A, class C, fifth wheel for full timing, now in a smaller travel trailer. We were done for now, BUT, thinking of full timing again, so may be a #9 next year, but if so, we'll still keep #8 since it's paid for. It's very addictive. Had the first 3 listed above at one time, at which the wife said, at least one has to go.

Our 2015 Wildwood Heritage Glen is perfect for us, but it is a big jump from a 19ft Hybrid to a 35ft 2 slide bunkhouse trailer. All I have to say is 3 trailers in 2 years sure happened quick, but when I look back on the circumstances to how we ended up where we are at, it makes sense to me. Kind of....LOL

NEVER SAY NEVER! I had a 29 foot hard side I rolled. Replaced it with a hybrid but wasn't real happy with it. Got an 05 5er but then got a deal on an 08 5er I couldn't pass on. All in 3 1/2 years!

Hopefully this is it for a while. I have my 08 at the dealers right now having some work done on it. A topper added on my slide unit, an adjustable arm added to my electric awning, a couple of shutoff valves added and the roof being recovered. The roof wasn't a must but it was getting close to time, starting to show a few stress cracks. $1,400.00 for everything so that is not too bad and I won't have to worry for a few years. Or somebody won't have too, LOL!

The new coating on the roof was 650.00. The rest was for the other work he is doing for me. The most expensive item is the topper for my slide, that is $750.00. I have been going to this dealer for a while and he takes good care of me, and does good work. If he didn't I wouldn't be going there.


The roof coating he uses is called Gaco roof sealant and it has a 50 year warrantee, yes, 50.

3 trailers in 6 months: 2015 23' Cherokee Grey Wolf TT, 2015 38' Cherokee 3 slide bunkhouse TT, and finally a 2014 42.5' Dynamax Trilogy 5 slide bunkhouse 5th wheel--still new on the lot.

During this time we also went through 4 tow vehicles: 2007 Tahoe, 2015 Chevy 3/4 gas, 2015 Chevy 3/4 Diesel and finally a 2015 Dodge Dually 1 Ton.

It was an exhausting spring and summer but our current rig is awesome and we love it. Sometimes it just takes some finagling to get things just right!

I guess I'm out of the norm from everyone else. Did go thru two to vehicles in twelve years. Both were used when bought. 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited. Back when they had a frame under them and a 2002 F150 which I currently have. Had a mini van when we tented. I guess I hold onto things for a while. Like my wife of almost 26 years.

Yeah I'm glad we moved up to new trailer would have kept the old one but life changed and bought motorcycle. We loved both camping and riding but with old one we had to decide which to do.

Now we do both at same time. It's great. I have done enough modifications to make it unique and fit our lifestyle. We will see if this one takes us into retirement in twelve years.

Why is that? Gas/Diesel? 3/4 1 ton dually/swr/cc? And what did you dislike about your 2 trucks?
