312QBUD Owners Thread

On other forums that I belong too there is often a thread dedicated to a particular item where you can find pictures, modifications, and ask "help" questions that other owners can answer for you.

I just purchsed my 312QBUD last month and I have noticed that there isn't a dedicated owners thread for my unit. I plan on owning my unit for 10 years at least, so this thread will be quite helpful for me going forward.

I think that is all the Forest River Units that are the same/similar as the 312QBUD, please let me know if I have missed any?

It pulls it absolutely no problem.

I will admit that I thought it was too much trailer for the Tundra, but it does just fine. Albeit at 9mpg towing.

Just wanted to say hello...what is your take on the myRv linc...I tried to look at it at the dealership...but the myRv remote wasn't shown

The lincpad is actually pretty cool. It has all your owners manuals tips and info built right into the software that doesn't require an Internet connection to access. When you do have WiFi access the linpad can be used like any other tablet for Internet surfing etc.

The only downside is the range. To use it for extending slides and stabilizers etc. I have been meaning to call Lipert to see if I can get the range boosted but I haven't yet.

Truth be told I was trying to crack into the hub myself via the IP address to see if I could mess around with things, but it seems to be really locked down.

Well im trying to figure out why they remote tab at the bottom ( controls all the functions) doesn't show up..so I'm not sure if I have to program it or what lol

You do have to make sure you are connected to the linchub WiFi connection. The other reason you may not be able to see the myrv controls is because you are out of range of the linchub.

If you aren't connected to the linchub go into your WiFi settings and see if it is there. Once you see the linchub connect to it. If you are asked for a password or username that information is on the hub. The hub is located in the cabinet behind the status and button panel.

Once logged into the linchub network and if you are standing at the front door of the trailer you should see the myrv controls show up on the tablet.

I have pulled mine with my 3/4 ton Chevy 6.0 liter pickup and my Chevy 3/4 ton Suburban with a 454 and with both I knew it was back their. Plus I have a pin weight of 917 lbs, so I run around 30 psi in my air bags.

Those pics look great.

The Tundra definitely knows the trailer is back there, but it has no problems accelerating up a hill. Lots of power in reserve to tow the trailer wherever I need to go

Have a 2014 and love it a little small for my family but is a very good unit in my opinion

I am curious to know how big your family is, for a trailer this size to seem small?

I ordered the extension arm and tv mounting plate from Ramco engineering for $49 and it works just perfect....you know it is a great mod when you wife looks at you and says, "now you need a bigger TV out here"

Do you know what model number that was and was it just the extension of did both the male and female bracket adapters come with it?

Here was another mod that I did this weekend.
I had read somewhere on this forum that the ducted a/c in the roof actually is very inefficient. So I went into the bunkhouse bedroom and pulled the vent out of the roof and felt around in the hole. The ducting actually goes past the very last vent towards the back of the trailer for who knows how far.

So I took apart a box for one of my daughters toys and put the cardboard across the duct inside the hole and then taped off the seams.



Not sure if it is entirely clear from the photo but I hope the explanation helps.

Now the a/c blows nice and strong into the bunkhouse bedroom. So off to the front of the trailer to the master bedroom and sure enough same thing with that vent there.

Did the same mod (no picture cause it looks the same) and now my a/c is even more efficient blowing nice and strong from those vents.

These are the 2 parts that I ordered. If you want more brackets etc, you can order an entire kit, but I didn't need that as the bracket was already on the side of my trailer.
There are plenty of different options on their website that match up to the bracket on the side of the trailer.

Now if I were to do it again, I might order the arm that is 12 inches long which comes in a full kit. The reason why I suggest this is because with a larger TV say a 30 inch + I think you would lose some of the adjustability with the smaller arm that I have. It's perfect for my little 19 inch tv as I can swing the arm 180 degrees and turn the tv to any angle, but like I mentioned if the TV was too much bigger it would hit the trailer I think trying to turn it 180 degrees.

Today's mods was installing a satellite receiver into a permanent type position in the cabinet in the living room.

My satellite service is with Bell in Canada and I used a 9241 receiver because it allows me to use a rf remote, so that it works through the cabinet doors and requires no infrared at all.

Here is the install


Once I got it installed into the cabinet, I used a hole saw and cut a hole up through the cabinet to run my hdmi, power cable, and rca audio out cables up to the wire centre. Be careful when making this hole as there was cables some of which were 120 volt power wire running between the cabinet and the wire centre. The Rca cables I plugged into the back of the magnavox stereo unit into the aux in port on the back of the unit. By doing this it allows me to play the sound from the satellite tv program through all the speakers in the trailer including the one's that are on the outside of the trailer. By having the sound going through the stereo it really helps to hear when the a/c is running as it's kind of noisy. I then used 3m velcro to help secure it to the wall of the cabinet while in travel so it doesn't bounce around too much



I then bought a rubber grommet to make the install all nice and clean.

Here is how it looks with satellite running to the main tv, with the sound running though the trailer speaker system and all cabinets closed.

I had this Linksys wireless range extender kicking around the house and I wondered if I could get it to work with the Linchub to help get some range on the lincpad so it would be more useful as it seems to be quite flaky when running on wifi.

I did manage to get the range extender to link to the linchub network and to re-broadcast the signal. I am not entirely sure if it will be of benefit to me or not, but I am not going to use it at home, so I might as well leave it in the trailer.

I installed it in the outside kitchen so that it was at the opposite end of the trailer from the linchub.
