5th Wheel model # ????

So I am shopping for a 5th wheel. How do I decipher the Model # of the trailer for example Flagstaff model 831BHWSS.

Is there a place that defines the model?

Model numbers donít usually describe the build of a unit. This example appears to be a bunk house... but other than that, youíll have to do a search for that model number and look at floor plan/specifications.

NEVER rely on model numbers for info. There is no standard. The numbers never mean actual length.
Some letters can be reliable, like BH or RL(rear living).

Someone once told me that many of the numbers on SOME trailers are the length of the FRAME ONLY, not the trailer itself.

That may be true, untrue, partially true, somewhat true, totally false, or not.

And some are just the opposite, some are the length of the interior floor. The VIN will give you more information. The 7th character in the VIN equals floor length.

For example, my Flagstaff Classic Super Lite 832IKBS is

box is 8' wide,
interior floor length is 32', (7th character in the VIN, H=32')
exterior box longest length is 34'11" (FR brochure, the nose of the box is angled outward then back inward),

Island Kitchen, Bedroom Slide.
The frame length from hitch to bumper is 36'6".

Thanks for the attachment. The 7th digit says "unit length". Not sure what they mean by that. Mine is an "M" which stands for 36'. I measured mine at 41'. That might be the length before the frame angles up for the 5th wheel part.
The 10th digit is supposed to be year. My 10th digit is "K". There must be some other document to show letters to year.

Go to rvtrader.com and enter the model number and brand in the search box. Several models will come up to look at. For example enter "Flagstaff model 831BHWSS" in the search box, hit enter.

I agree with you as far as 7th digit - my TT shows a "C" for 27" but measures 30'4". My model is 272, so I am guessing the 7th digit relates to the model #.
Then the 10th digit/letter is an "H" which, I am guessing, equates to an 8. My TT is a 2017 model. Can't figure.
Did they or do they start making 2018 models at the beginning of 2017????

I bought my 2019 in May of 2018. I was told by the salesman that April is the start of the next model year.
Who knows when the model year change is. I bought my 2015 truck in July of 2014. I remember when October was the start of the new model ear for trucks and cars. Not anymore.

Thank you for info on RV's - new model year starts in April. Always thought they followed cars/trucks also. As you stated, cars/trucks come out sometimes as 1/2 years so who knows what the manufacturing world is doing or not doing.
Enjoy your travels no matter what.
