5th Wheel versus travel trailer

Each 38 feet. Is there more living space in 5th wheel? What are the advantages and disadvantages of a travel trailer. Need help.

We have had both as for more living space I doubt if there is much difference - the tongue is longer on a TT so therefore the body would be a little shorter. The 5th wheel is easier to hook up to by yourself if you have no one to guide you. To us due to being disabled the extra steps in a 5th wheel makes a big difference. You post each 38 feet take a tape measure & check the interior length.

One main difference is, of course, the total length of tow vehicle/trailer combination. Fiver/tow vehicle will be considerably shorter than Travel Trailer/tow vehicle combo due to the bedroom overhanging the truck box (assuming the same tow vehicle). This should result in better campground manouverability for the shorter combo. I refrain from commenting on towing characteristics of one vs the other, as I have no experience towing a fiver. Others will chime in.

Either way, you need a loooong wheelbase truck. Also check the tongue weight to see if your truck can handle that, and check the pin weight to see if your truck can handle that, and the combined weight of everything. You also loose most of the truck bed carrying capability with a fiver.
