8285 Rockwood 5er

This is our first 5th wheel and really enjoy it..only problem is that when we set it up it seems unstable. If someone comes in the rear door you can feel it thruout unit. Lying in bed when the gkids move on the sleeper sofa it rocks the whole unit. The better half ain't happy and you know the drill..when Mama ain't happy..well...
Any suggestions...we have it set up at our hunt lease right now and I need HELP!

You need some stabilizers to stop the rocking. So far, we just use a tripod under the fith wheel pin, and that gets rid of a lot of movement, and I make sure I have a fair bit of weight on the rear jacks. A warning though, don't put too much pressure on the rear jacks, as they might tear right out of the frame where they are welded on. They aren't attached very well.
But over the winter I will be making stabilizer bars for the front legs and for across the back, and that should eliminate all movement. Check out the Steadyfast brand to see what I mean. steadyfast.com

I put the Winfield stabilizers and they made a great difference along with the x chocks. The web site is:

Hope this helps

Winfield stabilizers do nothing for front to back movement. The one I mentioned has a stabilizer bar for that as well, eliminates buying wheel chcoks on top of the $400 for the Winfield bars.

The Winfields are $200. Throw in a set of X-Chocks and you are set for less then $300. The nice thing about the Winfields are no drilling into the frame is needed. With the covered underbelly on the FW it can be a real pain getting to the frame to mount other stabilizers.
