Accurate travel trailer size

When asked about the size of your trailer, do you go by the living space (ie. 29') or do you add the length of the trailer with the length of tongue (29+3.5=33.5)?
Thanks in advance,
Eric

I go by total length. When reserving a campsite, you want to make sure that puppy is going to fit.

Absolutely the total length ... There is nothing worse then driving 1,600 miles and finding out that the trailer won't fit.

Men are sometimes known to exagerate length. When I make a reservation and I talk to a lady on the phone, there always seems to be plenty of space when I arrive.

As above, total length bumper to ball. Any other measurement is pretty much useless.

I get that the trailer needs to be measured from back of the bumper to the ball hitch, but I'm wondering if that is what the manufacturer is using when they say the trailer is 34'9". Looking at trailers online, I always wonder it's bumper to ball or just living area.

I also wonder if the manufacturer advertised height includes the AC units on the roof.

Anyone know for sure?

Thanks!

Mine is small enough that either length is fine. I put in the living space length when making a reservation.

Don't know about other manufacturers, but the Forest River web site lists the "external length" of everything they make, which is the outside length, hitch to bumper. As far as we've been able to tell, these measurements are quite accurate.

Yes the height of the trailer includes the AC or the distance to the highest part of the camper when it is level. If you run with the nose of the camper 2 feet high then you had better measure your actual height. Forest River and most mfrs measure the unit outside bumper to end of trailer ball mounting.

Just based on my little bit of research recently, FR lists end to end length and height w/ AC in the brochures. Model numbers below 30' seem to indicate overall length whereas units over 30' appear to indicate box size in the model number.

My model number is T2850, the overall length in just below 32 feet. Some may be this way but in my case it isnt. I just tell every one it's a 32 footer......

Now, I agree with you
My 2104S is just shy of 22' and my 2703WS is just over 32'.
