Air ride pin box suggestions
I'm really new to this kind of forum, but wanted to ask a questions to see if anyone has an opinion. I have a 29' fiver and want to upgrade the pin box to a air ride system. Does anyone have an opinion on what to get. I pull the trailer with a 2016 F250 SHORT BED. Thanks for any and all opinions

I have the TrailAir ride pin box on my trailer and this is my second fiver with the TrailAir ride pin box. I also pull with a short bed truck, a Ram Mega Cab with a slider hitch installed.

I have a short bed truck and have used a sidewinder the last two fivers. The second sidewinder has the airborne option with an air bag and a shock. Love it. With the air sidewinder I can turn 90° AND it rides very smooth. Don't have to mess with heavy slider that takes up the whole truck bed. The sidewinder is definitely worth looking at in your case.

I have a Comfort Ride Model 184 hitch, which contains air cells. I also replaced the standard king pin assembly on my fifth wheel with a Mor-Ryde pin box. I just returned from 2300 mile trip through Colorado and New Mexico and ran into a lot of rough roads. I experienced very little chucking and the ride is now very smooth, especially starts and stops. I did have a Trailair Flex pin box, but it lowers the pin about 5", which made it nearly impossible to get my trailer level. I highly recommend the Comfort Ride hitch!

I just purchased the FLEX AIR Trail air system. you will need the Long Jaw for the short box size.
they come in the 18K and 21K weight classifications. I got the 21 in the event I move up in trailers before I retire (as well as heavier truck to haul)
It actually lifted my tow height by about an inch or 2. I have to drop my Reese 16K slider down to the lowest level to off set.
it is the top of the line for that product.
watch the videos on the net.
ETrailer had them on sale recently. $2300 here in Canada
$1300 Canadian shipped for free to Maine where we camp.
that's a lot of fuel for next summers hauling.

Air Ride Pin Alternative
I would offer for your consideration an alternative. I recently purchased a Trailer Saver Airbag Fifth Wheel hitch that I am real happy with. It eliminates the Chucking issue and has a much quieter and secure King Pin connection. If you don't already have a big investment in a fifth wheel hitch you might consider them.

Thanks Doug, that's interesting. I have more investment in my hitch to consider anything else. I like the B&W hitch I have but thanks for the input

Thanks Bob, I will check out the comfort ride pin box. Do you think the lowering of the 5" is an automatic thing with the Trail Air? I wonder because I sent basically the same question to Etrailer, not sure if you are familuar with them but they replied back and said as long as I use the same hole pattern I'm using now the pin height would be the same.....hope that's not just a computer generated answer....lol

This is what I use and have installed for others. If you have a Lippert 1621 pinbox you can buy the Trailair here: http://www.adventurerv.net/ultra-fab...s-p-14217.html
They consistently have the best price I've been able to find.

I have a regular straight pin box on my fifth wheel, but I purchased the Trailer Saver hitch (by the people who make the Hensley). I have a short bed 2500HD and have loved the hitch over the past few years. Rides very nicely!
The other nice thing I like, is if I sell the truck or trailer, I can keep the hitch and move it to another vehicle! Nice advantage in my eyes.
