It's alway a good idea to check your camper to truck clearance in a parking lot. Try turning full lock going forward and see how much clearance you have. Hopefully you still have some.
Backing up you can potentially get even closer to the cab, but at least your looking in that direction and see when you get too close.

I was towing a Copper Canyon 29BH??, had towed it numerous times previously with no issues, just tried to cut it too hard forcing it in a site that was really tight, should have pulled up and cut one more time but didn't and it bit me, more pissed at myself for doing it that the fact it happened.... happy camping!

Should not be a problem because you can always use a silder. Your problem is the 1/2 ton pick! A 30 foot 5er will be to much for the truck.

And I have to agree with you. I'm pulling my flagstaff with a 1/2 ton Ram. I'm happy. I got the itch now to look at motorhomes though.

The Ultra lightweight---------
The Rockwood / Flagstaff Ultra lightweight come with the Reese slider for short bed. I was just at the factory two weeks ago, the Rockwoods were being equipped with a slider that will work with just about any 5 th wheel
hitch. It is a brand new design by Reese, will work as a slider or stationary
hitch with a 5"6" short bed. There is a short video about the hitch from Reese on Utube.

I have a F-150 5'6" bed with a PulRite auto slider hitch. Sure wish the Reese was out January 2011 when I bought the PulRite!!!!!! 
I have no problem turning 90°, pulling or backing with the hitch I have with the Rockwood 8285 WS.

Ditto, pulling (jayco eagle HT 23.5) 5th wheel with 1500 Ram and no problem. Do I want a 3/4 ton? It would be nice. Do I Need it? Not unless I want a bigger 5th wheel

What size engine do you have?
What kind of MPG (honest- no guessing) do you get when towing?

I think the terminology might be in error, I think they are called the Reese Revolution Sidewinder and they DO NOT SLIDE, they can be made to pivot at the hitch pin or by removing 2 bolts in the rear and installing the wedge behind the hitchpin, they will pivot back 22" from the hitchpin, but they won't slide.

I get a low of 8 mpg and a high of 12 mpg on a good day. (Imperial gallon). I have the Hemi 5.7. The best mpg I can get not towing is 19 mpg. I think that's consistant with most , no matter what you tow with.

I'm just curious.
Online conversions imperial mpg to us mpg you're getting about 8 to 10
in our neighborhood.
I get about 9. Haven't checked unhitched MPG because if I'm unhitched
my truck is in the garage 
I see you have the 5.7L engine. I have the 5.3L.
I'm happy towing what I have now including hauling my motorcycle
and we've been across Colorado twice.
I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be happy towing 3000Lbs more and that's where
I'd be if I bought the lightest 5er out there in our size range.
Soooooo I'm gonna need a new truck to go with my new trailer
