Are Pin Boxes Interchangable

I traded a 2016 Shasta Phoenix for a 2018 Rockwood Signature Ultralight. The Shasta had a Rotoflex pin box which seemed to help the ride some. I asked if I could trade out the Reese Sidewinder (which I have no use for) for the Rotoflex. The said they aren't interchangeable. I thought that seemed odd. Are they different?

Usually they area. But there Reese Revolution pin is more narrow than others and there aren't many replacements for it.

ependydad pretty much covered the shortcomings of interchangeability.

As an addition... the Rockwoods and the Flagstaffs come with the Reese REVOLUTION not the Sidewinder. While the same concept, the Revolution is manufactured specifically for Lippert and installed on the Rockwoods and Flagstaffs and is of a different pin box size. (as you've found out)

The Sidewinder is manufactured to be a replacement for typical sized pin boxes to allow for the rotating feature. Sidewinders can also be purchased with an "Airborne" head/plate which gives some cushioning, the Revolution cannot.

Right now the only 'cushioning' solution for Revolution owners is via the in-bed hitch. (of your choice)
