Basic battery questions

Hi, my wife and I are newbies. We just bought a 2013 V-cross Vibe 6502. I have a couple of battery questions.

How long does it take for the converter to recharge a fairly drained (stock, but in good condition) battery once plugged into a shore line?

Does anything special need to be done to charge via a small 1000 or 2000w generator?

If we upgrade to 2-6v deep cycle golf cart type batteries does any wiring have to be changed?

Would an AGM battery require a different charger/converter?

Thanks! I appreciate all of the knowledge on this forum!

Recommend you Google "the 12 Volt Side of Life".
It's a good primer for understanding RV 12v systems.

IMHO, a 1000w inverter generator is not worth it unless you have a popup with no microwave and other power users.
It doesn't cost much more for a 2000w inverter generator which will run everything but the a/c.

Depends, what kind of converter is in it? If it isn't a Progressive Dynamics Converter, get one with a charge pendent and ensure it is mounted within 3-4 feet of batteries using heavy gauge cable to minimize voltage loss (<2%)

A battery that is at 40% depth of discharge can be brought up to 90% state of charge in about 4 hours or so...the last 10% is what can take a while.

Don't waste your money on a 1000 watt generator. A larger generator can be had for a little more. Get a generator big enough to power our air conditioning...you will never regret buying too much generator or truck for that matter. Get an inverter generator. I prefer a Boliy but Champion have good reviews too!

Here is a good reference for future use. Try to not discharge below 12.0V. Doing this repeatedly can shorten the life of the battery. Replacing the one 12V with two 6V only requires one additional wire. A jumper from the unconnected negative terminal of one battery to the unconnected positive terminal of the other battery.
