Not all of Forest River division provide a top cover and vent hose for the battery compartment. One of them being the Cedar Creek division. The battery compartment is vented but no cover and hose are provided.

My unit does have a non-metallic box, not plastic but a polymer that is compatible to the batteries. This is very similar to what the automotive/heavy duty equipment manufactures build. The batteries are placed in a non-metallic box securely mounted but not vented to the outside of the vehicle.

Jim - I did say Most FR 5ers, but my buddy's 2015 Silver back has the same battery box my XLR came with and the same set up with the top cover not screwed down with the hose and vent.
I know FR changes things during the middle of production. This may be one of those changes.

Regardless the battery should be installed in some type of protective housing and vented if the battery requires ventilation.

My 2015 Silverback came with a single battery, mounted box and tube vented.
