Post Carrying kayak's

Do any of you carry kayak's on the roof of your rig? If so how do you secure them during travel?

I hope someone has a cool idea for this! I have always wanted to try this. However, every time I start thinking about it my project gets too carried away and I don't.

each time I think of doing it, here is my thought process:
First, my camper doesn't have a ladder, so I would have to install a ladder (not a huge deal, I've seen some moderately priced ones on the web). second, I don't think a person would want to haul the kayaks/ canoes flat on the roof because that would damage it. So a rack is in order, but here is where I really loose motivation, it needs to be a rack strong enough (so you have to make sure you hit the joists on your legs), high enough to clear vents and etc..., yet low enough with kayaks on top to fit under the standard 13.5' bridge that is on most county roads (at least here in TX).

This guy mounted his right on the bumper.
I'd only attempt this scenario with a factory rack.

This is the same way we carry ours on our 08 3500. There is no way I'm going to drag my yaks 13' up to the roof of my fiver.

How long are your Kayaks to be able to carry them on the roof of the TV?

What kind or brand or rack are your bikes on? I want to free up bed space and my two bikes take up a lot of room. I would rather them be in the position in your pic than up top.
