Cleaner needed for Faded Skylight

Anyone know what cleans this? I was going to order a new one in Smoke/Clear since I want to reseal the Skylight fixture anyway, but thought I could try cleaning it first?

If it is oxidized like a headlamp cover on an auto then try one of those headlight restoration kits from the auto store. Personally I would just go for a new one in smoke... and consider Eternabond tape along with caulk...

I am thinking it will be brittle if I clean it and the smoke won't get so ugly as this clear one after a few years. I will just use Lap sealant to seal this Etrnabond is great but save that in case I need to do an emergency repair ...

I cleaned ours with toothpaste in lieu of headlight restoration kit (you tube) followed up with lite coat WD40 (you tube). A lot clearer, then had to clean inside as well.

I will have to try that, but I think I may just order a new one. I have spent a lot of time fixing and cleaning this unit so for $83.00 I would hate to be cheap to make the unit look better and let a little more light in, but trying the toothpaste trick is a cheap easy way to see if it works a little then I can replace mine in the fall.

I like the light coming thru over the shower so I would go for a smoked one to replace the clear one that turned yellow. I stay on top of this trailer the original owner didn't do anything so I am playing catchup with Maintenance and just keeping things in clean and in working order.

On my skylight I've had great results using SD20, it takes the yellow out of some of the white plastic trims too.

Usually, when those oem (read thin and cheap) skylights turn that color, it's just a matter of time until they crack. Mine usually last 5 years in our sun before I replace them with smoke colored ones that are about three times thicker.

Using 303 makes a big difference in how long they will last. My last camper was 5 years old when I traded and the sky lights where still in great shape covering when not in use helps also which I do during winter months. Later RJD

Ah, never thought of using 303 on the skylight! I just replaced mine, so I'll give it a shot. We never cover ours as we use year round. Do wish I had covered parking though!
