Considering a new truck

Not on hd trucks to my knowledge. (Edit) looks like you might be right. The gas 2500 might only be 60k. Cummins and eco diesel still 100k. If so what dummies. My 15' has 100k coverage.

Is it true that Cummins is the only true diesel ?
Ford and Chevy/ GM are modified gas engines

Thanks for the info on the Rams, didn't realize that. I guess the trend is going backwards now?

That's called greasing you up before giving it to you. The writing is on the wall thanks to the EPA. All the manufacturers know the only way they are going to comply with the Federally imposed fuel mileage standards, which get more stringent over time, is to sacrifice something. The sacrifice must be weight. And when you sacrifice weight in engines you sacrifice reliability in the long term. The days of you buying a 50K or 60K pickup and getting 150K or 200K are almost over. Instead you'll be paying 60K to 80 K and getting 60K to 80K out of the engine and other power-train components. I think its 2017 they have to start meeting mileage standards on HD trucks.

No such thing as a free lunch.

It is interesting to note the GVWR for 2014 F150 upper end was 8200 lbs but with the aluminum body and all the weight savings on the 2015 instead of increase payload they lowered the upper end GVWR to 7850. So is this going to be a trend carried over to the 2017 Ford HD with aluminum bodies?
