Dealer prep items (weight)

I'm new here so sorry if this has been covered exhaustively.

What items are added on at the dealership vs. at the factory? I'm curious WRT weight being added after the unit leaves the factory. Batteries, propane tanks, awnings, slide toppers?

You can go to a manufacturers website and see the standard equipment and the base or dry weight of a vehicle. This weight will reflect all of the items that come standard from the factory. Any upgrades will affect the weight. Going to 30 lb bottles from standard 20lb. Batteries do not come standard so that will be added weight. Other added weights include, toppers, covers, equipment, cargo, water, PEOPLE.

Basically anything that you add on or upgrade that did not come as standard equipment will not be depicted in the weight from the factory.

Depends on how you ordered it.

At the bare minimum full propane tanks and a battery.

I didn't order my trailer, so I don't know what it shipped from the factory with, which is why I asked.

Thought perhaps it was common for some items to be added at the dealership after shipping.

Kinda figured the dealership wasn't gonna add "cargo, water, or people".

"Normally" awnings are shipped with unit unless dealer orders it without cause they have one cheaper in stock.
Factory has just started adding slide toppers from the factory if there ordered that way.

In that case then probably you just need to account for batteries and the weight of propane in the tanks. Typically a dealer will add nothing to a unit unless a buyer wants some mods upgrades done before taking delivery.

Not sure if it is the unit in the sig but you could ask the dealer where you bought it or if you bought it privately email the manufacturer with your VIN and they will give you a build sheet, compare the sheet to the installed equipment to see if anything has been added or upgraded.

Just some thoughts depending how important it is to you. I went the VIN route to see if my "arctic package" was included in the yellow sticker weight.

Most of the units I've looked have a yellow sticker that's well over the brochure weight and the yellow sticker doesn't account for the battery and propane. I suggest that maybe the brochure weight doesn't even include the "standard options".

Brochure weight and sticker weight were within 200 lbs on my unit.

I thought the same thing and I contacted FR about it because I was confused. FR told me that the brochure weight was the unit with only standard features, which equates to the bare bones unit. The brochure weight does not include thins like a gas and electric water heater, the brochure would correlate to just a gas water heater since that is the standard equipment, the brochure weight is a regular awning not a powered one and another one was the brochure weight does not reflect black tank flush since it is not standard equipment. He reiterated that if you made the unit the simplest and cheapest including AC options that is the brochure weight.

All of this info I was told was about an EVO 2850 so I am not sure if each brand is the same.

For my unit the yellow sticker was the exact weight of my unit (within 100 pounds due to a dual bat setup and I put 30lb tanks and took the 20s off).

I weighed my truck on the way to pick it up and then weighed it again while driving back home. The difference was pretty close to the yellow sticker, it was off a tad due to about a gl of antifreeze, batteries, hitch and 30 lb tanks.

On the lot I compared a 2850 artic to a 2850 non arctic and the yellow stickers were about a 50 pound difference. The only thing different about the unit was solely the Artic package. So for the newer units I believe the yellow sticker is pretty close to what it is when it leaves the factory.

Because of this I go off the yellow sticker because it seems way more accurate than trying to see brochure to real life.

Related: A/C seems to be standard (maybe not?), yet the specs list the height of the unit w/o the A/C unit. Ain't this fun?

I did not know the factory did not include the a/c when listing the height. Going by that the back air would put us over the 13' 2" as listed from manufacturer. Getting close to an 18 wheeler. Not to mention the front a/c on our Hemi which has to be higher yet. Will have to measure in the spring to see what the hell height we are running at.

Your ac units is included in the height. this is all put in the brochure.

Per the FR Reps I have spoken with, the yellow sticker is the weight of the trailer as shipped and includes allowance for battery and LP gas for the tanks that were shipped on the trailer. If the dealer changed anything after that, the weight shown would be incorrect.

Re the A/C, the brochure for my unit lists the height w/o the A/C unit, so apparently it varies . . .

Let the dealer know up front that you want the build/inventory sheet. This should list model numbers and serial numbers for everything installed. This is valuable information should you ever need repairs or parts.

I went on the factory tour for Rockwood 2307WS Ultralight. They had a scale at the end of the assembly line. The weight on the yellow tag is what the trailer weighs with factory options. The is no water in the tanks, the propane tanks are in place, but empty, and there are no batteries. Dealer added options are not included in weight on the yellow tag.
