Yes, I almost got away without spending any money, but what I am spending is very small to have directv. I want to switch to Dish TV just because it supports RVing a bit more, but my wife thinks it would be bad based on the directv commercials.

I have had both and would never go back to dish.

That is good to know, we do not like cable because of the cost anymore. We are going to stay with directv for now. I have the slimline dish and ordered with SWiM lnb and receiver from directv. I am hoping we can get this satellite hookup ready to go.

Well like we talked about you know how to get in contact with me if you hit a bump. One thing I figured out with the whole SWM thing is to make sure all your stuff is hooked up LNB, cable to power inserter etc. before powering up your receiver. I use one of those Monster Surge Protectors with about six plugs. I kill the power to everything until I have everything hooked up. It seems like if I don't follow that procedure I sometimes have a issue with the receiver communicating with the LNB.

redjet and RickV, thanks for all your helpful inputs! After HOURS of tedious education and experimentation, I finally got my DIRECTV system set up. Now I'm receiving HD programming on both TVs in the trailer. DW thinks I'm smart. However, the deciding factor for my success is that I'm too cheap to have thrown the entire antenna system into the North Fork of the Red River.

I envy you all with the ease of install. I thought I did my due diligence, bought a h24 receiver and Winegard anser. Got the receiver setup and activated in my house. Took it outside to setup and I couldn't get a signal. I spent 3 days, 3 destinations and probably 8 hours and never got a single. And yes I followed the instructions exactly. I called Winegard and was told I have to have dc voltage from the receiver. Barely had any. Decided to send it back and this morning had a Directv person come with a new receiver. He said there was nothing he could do because Winegard was wrong and it should work. To say I'm frustrated is an understatement. I'm ready to send it all back and go with Dish.

Well, it was not that easy for me either. I got the SWiM and splitter thing and all setup and no signal. I had all the setting right on the dish, I think, but my tripod was sagging a bit and was not level. I think that may have been the issue so I ordered a better tripod instead of the old camera tripod I had and will give it another go. I ordered my receiver direct from directv. It is fully working in my son's room. I will keep at it because the wife does not want to switch to DISH.

ID:	66067 now I have plugged this into the RV and the swim power inverter began to blink green instead of being solid green. Does anyone have a thought?
