Disc brake Conversion questions

For those that have done a disc brake conversion , can you offer some guidance on a couple things Iím wrestling with?

Is it necessarily better to have 1/4Ē main line vs. 3/16Ē? The research Iíve done shows conflicting results, since you need reducers to the hydraulic brake actuator and the T-fittings. Titanís brake line kit only offers 1/4Ē main lines for Triple axles.

Is mounting the HBA closer to the axles to shorten the main line more effective than upgrading to the 1/4Ē line?

Iíve also seen that it is advisable to keep the HBA wires no longer than 25í and to use 10 gauge wires. If this is the case, I could mount the HBA in a compartment right above the front axle.

Finally, Iíve read a couple reviews that the Titan actuator has about a 1 second delay. For this reason, Iím considering the Dexter HBA. Thoughts?

Here is the actual answer I got when I asked about differences:

The actuator is the heart of the system and this is where the performance differences occur.

There are 3 mfg. Titan, Dexter & Hydrastar.

Titan uses a 5 piston pump generating 70 cu. In. min. while Dexter and Hydrastar use a 3 piston pump and generate 40-42 cu. In. min.

This results in a response time on the Titan of .3 sec while the Hydrastar is the next closest advertising .8 sec.

Wow. Thatís a big difference. Who provided you with that information? etrailer?

Wonder what the heck those reviews were complaining about.
