Ask a hundred different people, you'll get a hundred different answers.... I like the bacterial type critters ( Piranha) and liq. calgon......check with an rv store. Amounts very, due to different tank sizes.

The answer is to buy a "Water Bandit" and use it.They fit most every fixture they require no threads.

Those saying use fabric softener; do you mean water softener? I'm going with the GEO method described here https://sites.google.com/site/cbruni/ , which prescribes water softener.

I use cheapo fabric softener, works great! Sensor works great. I have a water softener when on Full Service and this works well for keeping everything clean as well.
