Electric awning part 2

I had started this thread:

electric awning, 2008 Rockwood

but it was open quite a while ago. Some of you members have told me there is a version two awning and that arms were offered for gree to drop a corner to allow the rain to run off. The original awning which I have can not be adjusted. My dealer that I bought my trailer from is a Dometic dealer so I askd them to check into these mew replacement arms. They checked with their supplier and was told three times that they do not do this anymore and my only option was a new awning, cost about $3,000.00. I offered to buy an arm and was told it was not available. The third time I actually spoke with their supplier so I know my dealer wa not giving me aa bunch of crap! My dealer even offered to do the labor for free. I have been dealing with thm for quite a while so they ere willing to cut me a break any way they could.

I was agravated and came home and got hold of Dometic thru their web site. Went back and forth a few times with one of their service techs and finially got someone that knew what was going on! I said I would buy the arm but was told that could not be done because the fix was free? Huh?

I was told that they would replace one arm for free but the labor had to be done by a dealer. I gave them the info to contact my dealer and an hour later got a phone call from them. The service manager, Jim, told me he didn't kow how and didn't care but was glad I got someone that was willing to help me. He had gotten a call from Dometic and would let me know when the part arrived so I could bring my trailer in to get the arm installed, and Dometic was paying for everything!

Goes to show there is a God! You just can't give up! Thanks to everyone that told me this was done back in 08, seven years ago.

Jim

When I got this e-mail I like to have fallen out of my chair!

"The pitch arm kit only comes with one side so it can be slanted to let the rain run off. It is a free fix however a Dometic dealer must be the one to install it on the awning,"

I was so discussed it wasn't funny anymore. I had told my brother I was half tempted to put the awning up the next bad storm we had and let the insurance company deal with it. I wouldn't but that is how fed up I was getting.

In the previous e-mail I was told they would not sell me the arm. At that point I figured I was fighting a losing battle. The next e-mail opened with the above sentence, from a different service tech. I am assuming it came from a supervisor.

It just goes to show there are still some good companies out there to deal with!
