fifth wheel hitch safety catch

I have seen ads for a bracket you bolt on your hitch to catch your 5er if it come unhooked or was not hooked. After reading the threads about dropping them and not using them before , I was wondering if these thing works. If anyone has used them before let me know. thanks and Happy Camping

when we towed the fiver my reese hitch had a pawl that locked the hitch, and a place for a padlock, which i used every time, and always checked the latch before taking off, never ever had a "release" in flight after over 14 years

I really can't see where that would be necessary if you are careful to check your secondary hitch lock.
