Arrow Fifth wheel measurements?

Thanks again for your help! Confused here - started a thread seeking suggestions on fivers measuring 26-29 ft and it seems I don't understand how to measure a fiver! We do not want something over 29' as there are only two of us and we learning to drive is intimidating - we have a 21'TT now - big difference!

Usually 5er dimensions are stated from back bumper to the front of the pin box. Sometimes you see a dimension that gives only the inside length.

In "most or some" cases the inside living area measurement is the number you see within the model number.

In my case I have a 32 bhok-6.
My overall interior length is 32' the exterior length is 36'

Imo pulling a 5er is way easier to maneuver than a tt.
And for the most part you'll not notice much of a transition from a 22' tt to a 29' 5er.

I had a hard limit for the tip to tip measurement when I bought my camper due to my storage lot. Because of the inconsistencies in measuring, I ended up contacting the manufacturers to get an actual measurement.

You can’t use the fifth wheel’s model number designation as a reference. If you find a model you think will fit your needs then go to the manufacturer’s website and look at the specifications for that model. It will “usually” list the actual length of that model. Our Silverback 29RL is actually 34 feet 6 inches long. As stated previously, there just aren’t a lot of fifth wheels that are less than 29 feet in length. Good luck in your search.

There are three Palomino Puma models less than 29'. They seem to be surprisingly well made considering the rather low price.

When you ask a salesman the "total length" ask, can I park it in a 30' building and close the doors? (For 29' advertised length). Its the only way I've gotten the true length out of em, especially on a TT.
Take a tape measurer with you when you shop. Search websites for one near you so you can measure it.
With the right truck a 5er does tow easier with one notable difference... a TT tracks closer to the truck in turns where as a 5er cuts corners more. But after a few trips you won't notice any of this or the extra length. Please report back after your first trip with your thoughts. Waiting to hear.

as was said, model numbers are not the actual length of the trailer.
almost always, actual length is longer than the model number.
for example, our 23SS HTT's actual length, bumper to tongue, is almost 25'.

go to the trailer's website to get actual length.

Correct - our Silverback 29rk is 34 feet 6 inches long also.

I think our FR rep said,in our case, the 29 referred to the frame length, but I'm not sure that's correct as it's more than 5 feet 6 inches from the frame front to the front of the FW and that's doesn't include the front cap.

I'm thinking there is no RV standard for determining the length of an RV from the model number,at least in the FR line.

Great advice here, thank you! Any suggestions on no steps between bed and toilet for no trips in the night?

Practically all 5ers have the bathroom & bedroom upstairs on the same level.

One of the things I did not like with several fifth wheel trailers is having a water closet, and a shower room with the sink in the corner of the main bedroom.
All on the same level, yes but who wants the bathroom sink in the bedroom?

Agreed. Wanted a separate bathroom for sure in mine!

Yes, but the enclosed bath adds about a foot and a half to the overall camper length. If you're length constrained, sometimes you have to make choices.

(For us, the split bathroom like you described was on our "oh heck no" list.)

Ours is walled off and has a door from the bedroom into the bath and from the hall into the bath.

Saw a few like that, problem was most were longer than I wanted.
There are some nice camp grounds I would like to use that do not have room for larger trailers.

Bought the Coachman because it was the right length and the bathroom is all in one spot.

Many 5th wheels have the bathroom on the same upper level as the bedroom. My 8289WS for example. No steps between the bedroom and bath. The steps are from the Bedroom/Bath level down to the Kitchen/Living Room area.

Ours says 26.3 but add two ft.....for spare tire and pin our goal was to fit in 20 ft site which we can do if nothing obstruction the back.....as is 20 ft from back tire to pin.....if size is that critical.....go to what you want and put a tape on it....that is best bet...
