a 50 pound bag is about $4. Yes you have to dissolve it but that really doesn't take long.
i would check on the dynamics of adding"salt"water to your black tank. for salt to be a water softener it has to be part of a system engineered for that purpose.mixing salt in a bucket of water is just adding saltwater to your tank. calgon is a water softening "chemical" that works by just adding it to water.you may be doing more harm than good. i don't know what effect the "saltwater" mix
may be having on any other tank chemicals you may also be adding.

For the OP - original poster - in the greater Toronto area, Loblaws carries the powder form - I have never seen the liquid version... Juts bought 3 boxes a few minutes ago.

Good luck.

What dept' was it in? I checked @ 1 of the Superstores in Oshawa (north end) in the dish washing aisle & they didn't have it.

What store did you by it at? I may have to make a run up there (I'm back in Oshawa right now).

the only thing I ca find in Elkhart is Rain Drops, not the best for the Geo method, but it worked fine for our previous trailer. This year I ran a soft water line to the garage to fill the trailer and wash the cars, etc. before a trip I put 5 gallons into the black tank and some liquid detergent. we like the soft water so much I'm going to order a portable one. any recommendations?

Is there a website on any of the Calgon packaging? Maybe I could contact them about a source.

Loblaws in Pickering, not too far.

With all the laundry detergents, eye level.

Susan,

Please come back! We still love you.

Seriously, we know you posted your idea with the best of intentions and we are very happy that you are a member. We are all here to learn and teach (if we can) something. I was close to making a VERY expensive and possibly fatal mistake and posting my "dumb idea" here saved my skin.

I was trying to mount my generator to my ultra-lite's bumper and thought I had done a pretty good job. I posted my pics fater finishing my project and boy am I ever glad I did. Most likely I would have not gotten 50 miles before I lost my generator; blue boy; gas cans; and bumber.

The folks here convinced me to "rethink" my "great idea" and I am glad they did.

I picked up 4 boxes in Pickering. Probably do me for the next 2 summers. I'm in the process of moving & don't know if the Peterborough Superstore (owned by Loblaws) carries it or not.

I checked the laundry sections of both Superstores in Oshawa & neither carry it.

There's a toll free number on the box, 1-800-888-0192 for questions in Canada. I checked the rb.com website & their US toll free number is 1-800-228-4722.

Finally the active ingredients are: sodium sesquicarbonate & sodium tripolyphosphate.

My DW will most certainly appreciate the tips, since our local search has been futile as well.
