fabric softeners are wax

Fabric softener will coat the tank with a waxy build up. Clothes washers with this gunky buildup can develop problems with mold. Fabric softeners also build up a waxy coating on fabric - hence the caution not to use fabric softener with cleaning towels. There is a nifty video from Sacramento fire department showing children's sleepers washed several times with fabric softener and one not washed with fabric softener. The one washed in fabric softener goes up like a roman candle.

I found a box of Calgon water softener on the back of my laundry shelf - I'd forgotten it was there! I guess it has a new use.

Question: What about using Brox? It states that it is a water softener in the washer? Wally World here in WV has it for less than $3.. for abt 3#.

No reason not to try it. Calgon is just a known brand.

Am I not the only one that has noticed that WalMart is often out of stock of item that should be there? Tried buying Rolaids lately?

Or waxed paper? And so many other things. They and most stores are cutting inventory to save inventory tax, space, stocking time and other cost cutting measures.

or canned mashed pumpkin. Nope it's going to be a seasonal item only now. What? Don't normal people eat pumpkin pie year round? It's easy and the children think they are getting a huge treat for breakfast (HA HA HA they are eating veggies!!)

OK yes I know that squash form from blossoms and are therefore a fruit but y'all know what I mean.
