Flagstaff 831CLBSS or Rockwood 8335BSS

I currently have a KZ Sportsman 242BHSS and I am looking to upgrade, probably to a Forest river product.

I am trying to find owner reviews / comments on one of these with no luck so far.

Does anyone have one of these? could you share your actual usage thoughts on it?

I believe this is a new model for 2017, which probably explains the lack of information. It is a front kitchen, mid living and rear bedroom with king size bed.

They seem nice to us however I would really like some actual use opinions before buying.

Interesting floor plan. All I can say is if they are claiming a hitch weight of 1159#, you will absolutely need a 14k WDH as the actual hitch weight will be higher.

It looks like I may be the first to post comments on this model. I ordered it this weekend so it will be awhile.

2Evil4U, It looks like you have a slightly heaver unit, with a lighter tongue and pull it with a half ton. How is that working for you? I already know a 3/4 or 1 ton is in my future, just hoping it does not become immediately required.

My setup tows very well. My wife has no issues driving it either. I wouldn't want to tow consistently in the hills though. I'll be installing an additional engine oil cooler with its own fan before it starts heating up down here. Engine oil temps run in the upper 230s when towing. Other than that, no complaints. Mine is rated around 950# tongue and I weighed it at over 1150 once loaded. I upgraded from a 10k to a 14k equalizer. No real difference in towing but the hitch is happier.

I pick up my 8335BSS tomorrow. I wrestled with Fifth wheel vs this and similar models. The flagstaff seemed not as well put together. SO I gravitated toward the Rockwood Signature. The walls and compartment doors were thicker. Plus they were slam latch and the flagstaff was the old key lock that everyone has a key to apparently. I really wanted more storage, a bigger bed, and a larger holding tank capacity in my upgrade. Well 2 outta 3 ain't bad. The fifth wheel version was $8,000 more. I figured without the fifth wheel hitch in the bed I could buy a tonneau cover for $500 and save the difference. It has a 90 gallon gray tank, and a huge king size bed! The only thing I didn't like was the lack of windows on the passenger side of the trailer, and it was 36 feet in length overall. But it has a big area right up front with that big front window sky lights let in plenty of light. A kitchen big enough for 2 or 3 people to cook dinner in. Plus I can get to the frig, and the bathroom on the road without messing with a slide. Bonus for me.

Congratulations Ken. I ordered the Rockwood but the dealer was unable to deliver in a reasonable time I found a Flagstaff in stock and picked it up last Thursday.
I don't believe there are any difference besides color and patterns. It has slam latches with double sided keys I have not seen. The grey tank is actually 2 tanks, I assume evenly split but haven't measured.

Flagstaff and Rockwood are twin brands that are made in the same factory.
no difference except outside graphics and interior decor.

Yes the interior on the flagstaff is a little bit less. Thinner materials, lower quality amenities. That's why they are several thousand less than the signature series Rockwoods .

I don't see that, at least on these models. If they were I would think it would have to impact wieght, dry is the same on both. Price is difficult to say as it is almost impossible to find 2 dealers with the same price on the same model.
We did pay less for the flagstaff, the amount matches the options it didn't have

Flagstaff Classic Super Lite line is the twin brands of the Rockwood Signature line.

You're comparing the regular lower priced Flagstaff ultralight line, against the higher priced Signature line.
