Forest River to be faced with excess inventory?

We were told by Camping World (CW) that all of their more than 100 locations will no longer be selling new Forest River products. In fact ours just added Jayco, Winnebago and continue to sell Thor.
Love them of hate them, CW sells a huge number of RV’s and keeps buying up independent dealerships. Other than scaling back production, what will Forest River do to counter this significant loss in sales?

Wonder why. FR was at the CW just a month ago when I was deciding on a new 5er. I chose a Cougar by Keystone this time as there was a small price difference and things like auto leveling jacks came with it. Both were 2016 models and the FR was already on the lot.

Don't think it will have much of an impact on Forest River. It will just increase sales at other FR dealers. Camping World is not the be all in the camping world. I have bought over 10 rv's in my life and none of them at Camping World.

Do you mean FR might end up with a dealer with a good service department? ;-)

The bulk of the entry level market is split between Thor and Forest River. Thor and CW have had a lot of deals between them. This looks like payback. Not a surprise.

*Shrug* don't let the screen door hit ya in the butt CW

I would never, in a million years, consider buying a RV at Camping World! Too many bad experienced when we were shopping and too many horror stories on this forum.

Wasn't this rumor shopped around a while back and found untrue then?

I think that will be Camping Worlds loss if that's the case. I have never received pricing from Camping world that was not totally outrageous anyway on 4 new purchases so its no loss here. That could be salesman BS because I think something like that would be all over RV business and RV daily report. I sent it as a news tip over to Greg Gerber the editor of RV daily.

Who's to say it wasn't Forest River's call?

Maybe FR was unhappy with CW.

Was this a salesman telling you this? If so, you know it has to be true.

Don't believe rumors. The partnership between Forester River and Camping world will be selective...a choice by both parties. Some stores may not sell Forest River, but many others do and will continue to do so.

I'll bet it's not going to be much fun for people looking for Forest River warranty service at any Camping World they choose.

Well from what I have heard and read for awhile, its not easy or fun getting any kind of service from most Camping World locations after they have your money, let alone warranty service. It also appear they are not prejudice in the lack of service based on brand.

I've mentioned this before from first hand experience with CW. If I knew then what I know now about CW's service when I was dealing for a new fiver ... I would have stuck with a tent and a 5 day cooler.

Could not beat the CW price within 1150 miles on my last 3 RVs. Great timely service.

I'm just glad CW him-haw'd around about putting auto levelers on my class C. Ended up spending half the amount and done in one morning at the factory after Goshen last year!

Oh sure CW has good prices on their units, but ... mine sat on their lot for 72 days this past Fall. When they finally said it was done they batted 1000 ... 4 major items to fix under warranty ... 4 items half assed or totally hosed up ... I'll not darken their threshold ever again. I'll just get the parts from the factory and do it right.

Sure did. Although, I'm not loaded like you and settled for a Georgetown. You going to be in Goshen this year? Look forward to sipping a beverage with you again!
