Galley tank versus gray water tank

During my walk through today the guy was not able to explain entirely the difference between these two tanks. What is the difference?

Means 2 gray tanks, the galley tank for the kitchen sink and the other for the shower and bathroom sink.

In my TT the "grey" tank is all grey water except the OK as I understand. It has it's own grey "galley" tank.

I wish that was always true...we don't use the shower. I use nearly all in washing dishes(sometimes I don't want to use the outdoor shower). I have thought about trying to re-plumb or tie the greys together. I don't even dent the OK grey tank.

He could be right depending on how your unit is plumbed. Typically it is just what the others have mentioned.

After five days, our bathroom gray water tank is almost full & our galley is pretty empty (quite a few dinners out this week).

Is there a good reason they are not connected? Is it possible (or advisable) to do such a thing?

If your setup looks like the attached photo it appears as though you could open both grey valves, leaving the cap on, and the two tanks should equalize. Some folks add a twist on valve so you don't get sprayed removing the cap when you need to dump.

The galley and the grey water tank can be connected together, but DO NOT connect them or either of them to the Black tank. Keep them separated.

Thanks! Our setup is like the one in the photo, I will give it a try once I get my hands on a twist valve.

There seems to be a valve on the opposite side of the camper connected to the black water tank, it has been open the last 10'days while we've been on the road. It seems like closing it should keep things separate. I really appreciate the insights!

Yeah, our walk through was a lot of info in a short amount of time...

Just make sure that when you are connected to the sewer hook up at the camp site, if yours has one, keep the valve to the black water closed and allow it to fill and use plenty of water so that when you are ready to dump when full or ready to leave the site that you get a good flush otherwise if the valve is left open there is a tendency for the liquids to drain leaving the solids behind creating a big mess that wont flush out easily.

Terrible experience when the teacher hasn't a clue what he is teaching, not a great advertisement for the dealer.

Be careful if you have an outside kitchen. More often than not the outside kitchen sink is the low point. If you overfill the grey tank while showering and no one is outside, you might end overflowing the outside kitchen sink instead of the shower not draining.
