If I'm plugged into 120V 15amp power at a campsite and want to use the generator to power my A/C, can I fire it up without causing a problem, two power sources? Or should I unplug the land power before starting the gen?
The short answer is to unplug the shore power then run the genny. You don't want to mix power sources like that. The genny and the shore power won't be in phase sync and will cause problems. If you have an ATS (auto transfer sw) it won't switch the genny in until it loses shore power.
