Just a thought... if you use detergents in your Black tank... be sure to run some coco oil in your black tank occaisionally.

Those rubber seals in your black and grey water valves definitely can get dried out by lots and lots of soap and detergents. The need a bit of lubrication to work properly, so drop some coco lube down them occaisoinally.

Yeah, I received a formal warning for typing "Pissed". I was asking the question "Are You Pleased or Pissed with your Purchase" I didn't mean any harm but you would have thought I kicked their puppy and slapped their grandmother. I've never used anything like that in my tanks before and unless I know that there is a problem I'll more than likely never use Cascade again. BUT it did work this time to clean the junk off my sensors. Just wanted to point that out.

Most of the water troubleshooting I did as a pond builder/keeper was about green pond water. The water got green because fish pooped in it. I could never use chemicals in the water because people named their fish, so I had to take great care not to kill "Ralph and Alice, Rambo or Katherine Hepburn." So I had to use more than just plant material to keep the water clear. Barley straw works, but that would hardly work in a black water tank. And it would be the devil's own PITA to remove. I used bacteria and enzymes to clear the water to the tune of about 25 bucks a month. That kept my customers happy. If we left the human poop in the RV black water tank, the same bacteria and enzymes would work, but I hope we can presuppose that we clean that tank out regularly. That said, Calgon, Cascade or whatever seems like a much better idea than anything else.
I tried yeast in ponds knowing full well it would not work, but the owner wanted me too. I was right. It did not work.
So as long as we don't need to worry about fish in the waste tanks, we can use all the chemicals we want and they should work well.

Nothing wrong at all with using a dishwasher soap. I use Dawn liquid soap, Calgon, and ice cubes to wash and scrub mine.

Just finished the dishwasher soap experiment to clean the black tank and get those darn sensors working. Added water, soap and a little Calgon and drove 6 hours to our destination and dumped. We have a clear black flush attachment so we could see lot lots of black water draining from the tank (one would expect black water from a black tank, right? ). Went inside to see the results on the gauge and darn, it still the thing showed full. Well so much for this idea. Now we're on to Digest It. Couldn't find it at CW, so ordered it on line and will try again next week.

I'm so sorry that it didn't work for you. Maybe it is just a bad sensor? BUT I'd bet your tank is good and clean!

Yes, it's a very happy and contented tank, as far as I can surmise. It just lies about how full it is.
