Jayco Ultra Light - Who has one?

We are upgrading from a pop up to an ultra light. Right now I’m set on the Jayco. It seems to have everything we need including bunks for the kids. How do you guys like your ultra lights? Any complaints? Praises?

Given that Jayco is not a Forest River product, your responses might be fairly limited here.

I’ve owned 2 Jayco products. Although both were on the higher end I have no complaints. Good quality and I like their 2 year bumper to bumper warranty.

You might want to ask your question at the Jayco Owners Forum. That said we had a 2008 Jayco TT and it served us well, absolutely no issues.

Our first pop-up was a Jayco. This was 10+ years ago though. No complaints and it served us well. When we sold it, we had a few people wanting to buy it within 24 hours.

I don't own a small ultra-lite but I believe the OP is just asking in general of those that do (not necessarily Jayco brand) who have ultra-lites, how they are liking them.

Forest River makes many ultra-lite models, maybe some of these folks will chine in about current ultra-lite pros/cons.

Our 1st camper was a Jayco classC that we had a lot of problems with, but all were with products not manufactured by Jayco. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another if it had all the features that we like & they still have a 2 yr warrenty. That being said, we're on our 2nd Forest River product & are very happy.

Floor plans are common to most manufactures, it's the finishing touches you have to look at. Check the molding fasting, light locations, roof and window seal/caulk and cabinet construction. Sometimes a manufacture will make many "entry level" RVs know full well you won't own it long therefore low quality. Remember you can order your RV from the factory with options done right if the dealer wants your money.

Assuming a Mini-Lite is the equivalent in your mind to the Jayco, we are quite happy with our Mini Lite 2503S. We have had only one quickly-fixed-before-we-took-it-home issue with the Murphy bed support.

When shopping, we did look at several Jayco's. It was hard to quantify why, but to us the Jayco's just seemed to be "cheaper." (When we shopped for hybrids, the Starcrafts seemed "cheaper" than the Roo's.)

Obviously, others must feel the other way, or Jayco would be out of business.

But since you're on a Forest River site, I'm guessing most of the responses to your question will be similar to mine.

I'm probably late to this party but i'm new to the forum so i'll apologize!

We are taking delivery of an Alpha Wolf 26DBH-L in a week, but trading in our Jayco X23F ultra light, so I thought i could weigh in.

We love our Jayco, quality was best in class, and it seemed to have more creature comforts than the other similar models. That being said, it was the weight and bunk design that decided for us. We needed to stay light for our TV, but the bunk seals were the best we looked at. Many you can see daylight through, or they are easy to reach into like a popup. The Jayco at least was fairly secure (forgiving the fire escape zipper!).

Some friends just bought a compeitors new model similar to the X23F, a triple bunk hybrid ultra-light. It was also very nice but lacking in some key areas. It was wider, so the floor plan seemed more open than the Jayco. However the heater bypass was impossible to get to for winterizing, and the low point drains were a nuisance to open and close.

Frankly we'd have bought another Jayco if they hadn't discontinued the model we were looking at next. But then again, The FR Alpha Wolf ticked all our boxes so we are looking forward to trying another brand.

Also looking forward to this forum, i've been lurking for 3 months since we signed papers and just signed up yesterday!.

Thanks for the compliment. My intention was to point out that a person joined the forum, asked questions about some other company's unit but hasn't even logged on to the forum in two months and, therefore, he/she may not ever see your evaluation of a non-Forest River product. I didn't say you were prevented from writing an evaluation. Be our guest. I couldn't tell if you had issues with other comments such as "You might want to ask your question at the Jayco Owners Forum." or "Given that Jayco is not a Forest River product, your responses might be fairly limited here."

Jayco are well built trailers, however; having kids and recently owning the floor plan you’re getting without slide, you’re going to be tight and fighting for space. We thought it was enough as well and, well, a year later we are sitting at home in a 26 foot bunk house. There are very well priced and built units for under 25000$ that’ll get you way farther than that one will and you’ll have plenty of space. Even adding a slide to that floor plan would DRASTICALLY change the way I felt about it. Get the unit you’ll need in 5 years. The floor plan was good for a smaller unit but we should have listened to our first salesman when he said, you’ll be trading it in a year for space. There are 24 foot floor plans with no living room and a single dinette slide that would provide way more space. We looked at those too. Just a thought.

If you've maxed out your time vehicle, keep TT a couple of years and plan 2 TT/RVs ahead for stronger TV, heavy duty towing and payload. We did and finally got a 5r with 3 slides in 7 years, was/is worth the painful wait.
