Looking for a Unicorn?

Are there any travel trailers (pull behind, not 5th wheel) that have at least queen size bed plus 2-4 bunks, slide, and is under 27’? Or am I looking for a unicorn? I’m open to any brand, I’m just not sure where to even begin to look?

Yes, but I think you will be limited to 3 bunkbeds all on top of each other on one side of the trailer. We looked at a few of these, and somewhere between 27&28 ft. Four bunkbeds requires two on one side, two on another side which means a room full of bunkbeds and this bunkhouse room will move you to the 30 range (this is what I have) Good luck in your search.

Two words: Murphy Bed.

My trailer has a queen bed, 2 bunks, a slide, and is 26'. Many trailers like mine. You'll be hard pressed to find additional bunks, though.

We used to have a 26' Wildwood TT (no slides) which had a queen bedroom in front and two bunkbeds in back It had a nice exterior door to reach the bunks which, when folded up, offered a great storage space to carry bicycles and such. There are trailers like that out there.

Perhaps weight would be a more critical criterion than a foot or two of length, in order to get the configuration you want, unless of course your parking space at home or the campgrounds you visit would have a length limitation. Hauling a trailer a foot or two longer shouldn't be a big concern.

We have Wildwood Xlite 230BHXL it has Murphy queen bed and two rear bunks. The dining table can be used as a bed as well. Our TT is 23ft, 25ft with hitch.

We had a 20' hybrid when the kids were young. it had three tilt outs. one queen in the front and two full size beds. one on each side and the dinette made another queen bed. We loved that trailer.

Check toyhaulers. Most have a queen of king master and a happi-jack system in the rear that has two queen size beds there, perfect for sleeping 2 people each or multiple kiddo's. Mine (in my signature) fits your requirement other than its 32'.

Another idea is that some extra bunks can be added to any camper. One idea is that it is easy to add another bunk above an existing bunk. All one need do is hinge, or permanently frame, a single bedframe on the same wall beside one bed already nearer the floor and fold it down, or up, to use. It can be held level for sleeping by chain or other stop methods.

Manufacturers do it all the time. Of course they plan the bunk to be on a blank wall, where many campers will have windows or cabinets on every available spot. One could frame past a window if it is not an escape hatch, however.

We once had a factory overhead cabinet on the wall above our dinette that turned into a suitable top bunk over the dinette bed conversion. The entire cabinet front unlatched and neatly flipped down flat along with the flat cabinet bottom to form a bed surface. This was in a tiny, short 8' MapleLeaf brand truck camper and we finally had two children with separate beds that way. The nice oak cabinet was not really useable temporarily, but it did beneficially separate kids, as the relieved parents soon discovered.

Newer campers sometimes have an extra bunk that folds up out of the way to make sofa-like seating out of the lower bunk. It becomes an extra TV room for kids or guests.

It should even be possible to make a bunk out of a factory permanent queen bed by adding another bed frame above the first.

All these arrangements are pretty cozy, but when the family is really tired, any port in a storm. Food for thought.

You might check out Coachmen Viking 21BHS. We have a 21RD (Rear dinette) that has NO slides. The 21BHS looks to have two bunks, a queen bed, and one slide with the dinette.

We did not want a Murphy bed, I wanted no slides, and DW wanted dinette in the back for more room. That is our unicorn. If I could just find a way to get rid of the jackknife couch and maybe get better access to electrical EMS I installed and small storage area, i’d be thrilled.

I was thinking the same thing.

The added bonus is using the ramp as a deck...I think if the wife and I didn't bring motorcycles we would still have a toyhauler just for the deck. We're not big on spending time inside the camper...everyone's different.

My trailer is 28.5 feet long, a little over your 27' requirement and there is no slide but it ticks many of the other boxes you want. King bed in front, happy jack two queen bed system in the rear and two bunks. We were looking at trailers with bunks not for kids but for storage...motorcycle gear, kayak gear, life jackets, fishing gear, dry food storage, extra towels, blankets, cleaning supplies...all labeled in totes out the way on the bunks. -and the open end under the bottom bunk for shoes keeps the floors open.

One bummer (maybe) with my trailer is tow vehicle requirements. Pretty easy to go over the tongue limits of a half ton with this unit.

we have a Cherokee Patriot Limited Edition 304BS, 2018. 3 slides...two in the back opposite of each other and it makes a 8x14 room. Each side has a bunk above and Jackknife sofa that folds to a bed. Not a queen master though. 3rd slide is dinette and sofa area. 36' and has a gross weight of 11,060 lbs. We've slept up to 11 in it so far. 7 adults and 4 kids.

Look at Rockwood Mini Ultra Lite Floor plans

We’ve been looking at lots of bunkhouse trailers lately. Best to just go to a big dealer and browse the different units. Some of the smaller units are making good use of space. Went in I believe a 22-23ft that had the Murphy queen and a small separate bunk room in the back. They are really trying to offer all sorts of floor plans.

Both of these had queen bed, 2 bunks, dinette and couch.
If These are too long, their are many 23-25 ft models that are pretty much the same. You just lose the couch and a little storage.

Most brands have one of these popular floor plans in the same or similar size. Just depends on what flavor you like. Good luck! Lots to see...

Rockwood MiniLite 2509S/Flagstaff microlite 25brds. "full" bunks with storage under the bottom one, dinette is big enough for someone under 6' to sleep comfortably. Murphy bed is an RV queen.

We have a Vengance Rogue 25v toy hauler. 25' box, queen bed up front happy jac queen beds in the rear...no slide though.
Watch toung weights on THs..they are heavier the if not hauling toys..

Check out the Imagine, Imagine XLS and Transcend Xplor series travel travelers from Grand Design. Most, if not all, have residential size mattresses. Imagine 2400BH at 28' 11"; Imagine XLS 23BHE at 27' 11"; and Transcend Xplor 243BH at 29' 11". There are other models that have murphy beds, too, such as the Imagine XLS 19BWE at 23' 6" and Imagine XLS 21BHE at 24' 11". Good luck.
