Prefer to tow fifth wheels with a long bed. It's a much smother ride with less bouncing or chucking as I've heard the term on here. Have gone back to short beds twice but will never make that mistake again. Even solo it rides better.

It is the wheel base not the bed length of a truck that is important in ride comfort; at least this was true in my engineering days. I know for a fact that my short bed Ram Mega Cab has a longer wheel base than a Ram regular cab long bed truck. For my Model Year 2008, the Ram Mega Cab is almost the same wheel base as a Ram Crew Cab long bed truck, I think the Crews Cab is .2 of an inch longer.

True..... I guess a lot of us tend to think long bed = long wheel base but not true in every case. We're pulling with a long bed crew cab Chevy dually and it's the best towing truck we've ever had. The only issue really is parking so when we get so we can't walk from the fringes of the parking lots we'll have to rethink our tow vehicle. But any less truck will mean a smaller trailer for us.

I don't have a garage to worry about but I test drove a 2016 F350 Platinum Crew Long Box and it is just way too long for me, but now buying same truck with 6&3/4 bed. I am also getting a Crusader 315rst which has a pin of 1980 and dry weight of 9990, so with this configuration the FW and I have spare capacity and wiggle room. I also will be using the new truck as a daily driver, don't want multiple vehicles too much work and a pain going back and forth. I am happy with my choice and rides a little rough then my F150 but you get used to it, considering what the truck can do?

I have the 6 3/4 bed in a F 250 Cab and half. We don't need passenger space and being a daily driver I want to be able to park it easily. The ride is harsher in one way compared to the F 150's I have owned but it is a lot smoother on rough roads. The longer wheelbase length wins for comfort, no question.

I also figure the F350 Crew SB 6.7 will do well on Economy compared to my F150 EB Screw/SB now, I get 21-23 all highway and avg 17-19
Hearing that I do only 1,000 miles a month and it is all highway I should do ok after the break in period.
Does anyone know what the actual break in period is on a Power Stroke now a days?

They say 500 miles or 1,000 kms.
The key is non sustained variable speed to seat components. I towed for break in with no cruise control on back roads. By the time I got there it was broken in.
Many Diesel forums say just drive it hard.

I would think at least the first 500 miles drive it normal but not hard, then after that just drive it. I will be kind to mine but on mile 501 party on....lol
I usually am gentle for first 1,000 then after that I just drive it, but maintain a normal speed and use not too crazy until 5,000
