We are 65 and pulling a 30 footer...hitch to bumper 34 feet. The important thing is to remember to NOT pull, turn, stop and back the trailer like the shorter trailer you are used to pulling. Our first trailer was a 20 footer...it took awhile realizing that such a long trailer required much more space in turning and backing...and stopping. We were used to pulling our 20 footer out of our 1 1/2 lane width driveway into a 1 1/2 lane width country lane. We had a few bumps and hysterics (mine) the first few times we pulled out and OH MY , backing in was a nightmare! THEN we found an RV site that talked about turning and backing a long trailer...and the need to use BOTH lanes either in the direction back out of, or the direction backing into...hmmm. Gary relocated the six inch round corner post at the entrance to our driveway and gave us 2 full lanes to turn out of, and returning, into. No more hysterics, no more half hour attempts trying to back in. We just didn't know what we didn't know! So take your time, practice in a safe place and

It's been a steep learning curve, but less so thanks to the fine folks here on this forum.
We need to update as well;

Still both "over 40" but now we're towing a 31'11" 5er. OK, so it's 32 ft.
DH backed it into the driveway today in one shot! yahooooo! 2nd time to tow it and yep, 5th wheels *are* easier to maneuver.

14' camper van @ age 47, and considering a 19' pop-up as an upgrade. Despite growing older (unwillingly, but apparently there's little to do about that) and possibly moving from a van to a pop-up, we would not really have any interest in going larger regardless of age - I want to be able to maneuver easily while hitched, keep fuel costs down so that I can go more often (and farther), and to stay primarily in State and National parks, many of which were built for smaller campers and tents.
