New Hitch Needed

On out return trip home from camping over the weekend I had to tow in a heavy cross wind, had to drop my speed down to 55mph. I have been researching both the Reese straight line pro and the equal-i-zer. My current setup is the standard give away from the dealer. I have it set up to transfer just enough weight to keep the front end of the TV from raising. Anymore weight on the front end and the ride is harsh and I get a lot more sway. TV is a 02 dodge 2500 8800GVW CTD. I've read that the Reese dual cam needs pressure in order to function correctly, does the equal-i-zer need this also? Looking for ideas and opinions.

Not a lot of experience here, but a lot of people share Steve's view - the e-qual-izer is pretty much thought of as a great set-up.

I wouldn't call it the best, I think Hensley has that title....but i would call it the easiest to apply and priced affordably. Perhaps best value would be better stated?

I had the Reese Strait line on my Outback before getting the Fiver.

Once set-up, it was flawless. I have a 2006 Dodge 2500 and the Outback maxed out a 7000lbs, so there will be a way to set it up.

Forgot about the Hensley. It's great but usually behind an Escalade.

How close are you to my house...
I'm about to sell my Equal-i-zer hitch. I'm not towing anymore.

I`de go with the Reese Straight Line. it goes one step farther and centers the TT behind the truck, where the EQ just keeps it where it is, kind of like a glorified friction sway bar. don`t get me wrong, the EQ is OK but I think the Dual Cam (Straightline) is much better at controlling sway!

While the Reese may have a selling point that it stays in a detent position, impeding sway, the fact is that it is which is no different than a friction producing device. The disadvantage of the reese, is that because it is resistant to "give", it puts unnecessary strain on the trailer frame, and the rear end of the TV. Also causing excessive push to the TV which can make the TV lose control, especially when cornering. There are no proven studies that say one hitch prevents sway any more than any other anti sway device. However, when you look at the physics, the ease of installation and hookup, you will go with the equalizer.

Hookup of the Dual Cam is just as easy as an EQ. and if the EQ works just as good as a DC it puts the same strain on the trailer frame and receiver as the DC. and the stresses on the trailer frame are no different than what the weight dist. puts on it.

DC is better in design! and thats the end of this argument!

My buddy has the EQ and were both done within seconds of each other. we checked to see one day when we were out just because of the faster to hitch up argument.

Physics are never a problem!
