Onan prewire

Our 5th wheel is prewired for Onan gen in the front compartment I am wondering if I can use this to operate a
Champion 3400-Watt Dual fuel inverter. Will I be able to start the generator with the switch and make use of the fuel line and exaust that is designed for the Onan? Thanks in advance for any help.

Welcome to the forum its a great place to get your questions answered. You may be faced with a project to modify things to fit your Champion unless the Champion is configured like a Onan. Is your Champion setup to have remote start?

Does the champion allow for a long exhaust? Most portable generators will overheat with a long exhaust installed to vent outside of the rig.

Not saying it can't be done, but a few things to consider:

Back pressure from an extended exhaust pipe.
A way to remotely/automatically control choke.
Will need to add a Fuel pump to get fuel into carb.
Electrical controls will need to be reconfigured.
Cooling air for generator.
Safety of a open air designed generator in a enclosed space.

There may be other concerns but this is off the top of my head.

The Onan pre-wire is a specific setup for that specific brand and type of generator design, trying to modify a type of generator not designed to be 'enclosed' could not only be problematic, but more expensive than practical.

I can see your desire to use the capabilities of what's already be 'done', but that amount of wiring and work is not really that big of a deal.

also, you mentioned fuel line - what 'fuel' tank would any line to going to?
